in the many years the black magi have served the empire as its leaders in arcane mastery they have been involved in many a dark ritual and incantation to keep the land in control and put down all who seek to rise up but of all the powers they uncovered only one was ever banned from use even within the order itself. Its true name stricken from the records the hall now only refers to it as that of unlocking the gates of Dark Possibility. Accounts vary but it the texts the remain seem to refer to it as form of manipulation of causality itself allowing one to unlock the darkest possible future for your enemy's ....only one problem was discovered ... it was infectious and could spread like wildfire to groups towns and before it was stopped the forbidden texts suggest entire city's were devoured by its effect causing the deaths and mutilation's of thousands.

The records say it was finally contained in a a dread wraiths holy fire and cleansed from the world ... but some look at the world under the control of the empire seeing the state of the land as they grow in power day by day and wonder ..... if the magic of dark possibility was ever stopped at all.
