It's about 12 years old...in the front garden in a windy spot...It died down to nothing last winter..The frosts were terrible..it just had straw over it!! It's now the size of a rhododendron bush ...well ..almost!

Where abouts are you? We have to dig up our Calas and Cannas.
They would freeze in the ground here.

Cheshire...North of England(u.k.)...Usually mild winters with an odd heavy frost...but last year was lots colder...and hard frosts..but it was a surprise...so the plant was still out....in the ground!

It has been outsde for at least 10 years...We have fairly mild winters with some snow onhilly parts...but last year was alot colder...very heavy frosts and more snow too.....My electricity bill was the hugest it's ever been ...I thought the cala wouldn't manage to grow again...but it did!

You got our winter!
We had a relatively mild one as compared to usual.

I would think that as long as it is well mulched around it
and the ground doesn't completely freeze, it should be okay.

I don't think anywhere is perfect...I hate it too hot as well...It must be nice to have enough money just to travel around to where it's the nicest weather ...Throughout the year...Just given some art materialsetc....and time to do your own thing
