Original Template: www.reddit.com/r/digimon/comme…So, here's my Digivolution line for my ideal partner Digimon.
Chibomon/Chicomon (Fresh/Baby 1): Very simple, I needed something that can Digivolve into DemiVeemon.
DemiVeemon/Chibimon (In-Training/Baby 2): Since Veemon and Kotemon look pretty similar (at least from what you can tell of Kotemon), I decided to use DemiVeemon to cement that connection.
Kotemon (Rookie/Child): Kotemon is the main reason the line is what it is, as I wanted to make a line for Kotemon that evolves on its concepts with each stage. The theme for Kotemon's line is "Amateur swordsman grows into a powerful swordmaster," and I think it fits the bill.
Yasyamon/Yaksamon (Champion/Adult): Yasyamon is there to act as a bridge between Kotemon's and Grademon's. Its twin wooden swords are an upgrade from the single bamboo Shinai, and transition nicely into Grademon's Souken Gradalpha.
Grademon (Ultimate/Perfect): Grademon is a great Perfect Level for Kotemon, with its Souken Gradalpha being a major upgrade from the single shinai Kotemon has. Grademon feels like the swordmaster I envisioned my Kotemon becoming. However, the line still needs its Ultimate.
Tactimon (Mega/Ultimate): This is where I struggled the most. Where do you go from Grademon, the perfect swordmaster? Sure, I could go to Alphamon or another Royal Knight, but that doesn't really fit the more Japanese aesthetic that the rest of the line has. There's Zanbamon, but it doesn't really work as I always associate it with a Musyamon line. I finally settled on Tactimon, because even though it loses the twin swords, it makes up for it in its Jatetsufūjin-maru (Sword of Storms in the dub).
