That's a choice you'll have to make.

This is a great tutorial--I've never seen the concept of line thicknesses explained in a clear way before, but your mix of words and images manages that very well

This is great! This really helps, thanks~
Hey, are there any other types of pens that work well with inking?

Copics are really good. Avoid Microns.
Glad I could help!

I wanted to ask, why it's better to avoid Microns?

Sorry for the late reply! It's a personal thing - I've had problems with Microns skipping. It looks great for an anime style, but just doesn't suit my own.

Thank you very much, your tutorial is very helpful. I do have the same pens you have but I can not vary the line width just like what you did here I really like how your sketch turned out, mind always looks the same width (usually very thick lines and boring). What kind of paper do use here?
Do you use dip pens as well? I tried using them but I got frustrated as they are messy and hard to control.
Thank you again!

Not a problem! Line value is all in the wrist. If you have the proper tools, you can do it in one swipe, but I'm very partial to Faber-Castell's inking pens as a money saver. Plus they have some quality ink.
I don't use any kind of special paper. Printer paper works just fine. For a while I worked on some heavier weight cardstock and bristol, but when you erase, it also picks up the ink. Something that's absorbant is the best way to go.
And actually, I'm right there with you. Seven years of professional work and I still don't like dip pens. I've never had a commission that's called for one though, so I don't think it's necessary.
Again, not a problem and if you have any questions, let me know!

Good tutorial.
There's nothing like those Faber Castells. The really good thing about them too is that they are waterproof.

Nice tutorial. :3 What really struck me, though, were your tips at the end -- may I quote you/use this phrase in my signature?

You can get them at any crafts or art supply store. I got mine from Hobby Lobby, which is a Crafts Etc store. You can find their online store at [link]
