Me too! It's been a year, and I still love them. I have a feeling this may stay as one of my lifetime ships.

Yep, at the Download resolution, I could spot the angles in Lightning's larger shoulder button and her thumb's tip.

BTW, I AM impressed, especially considering how self-taught you are at this whole process and the amount of patience it must require to get anything other than a pose of two-women-standing-at-attention-with-blank-faces-as-if-they-came-off-an-assembly-line. THIS is definitely not two women standing at attention with blank faces as if they came off an assembly line! Good work!

P.S. You're still leagues ahead in terms of getting their hair to work.

Oh man, it takes so many tries and googles and re-tries to get stuff to work... I'm just glad I had 3D programming/modeling experience from the before time, the long long ago so I wasn't starting from square one.

I think the polys are most noticeable in their hair and ears. Look at their ears! But, it's a darn good model that I take no credit for and simply enjoy messing with. There's no better way to learn than when you enjoy the subject matter even when the subject is being a bear.

Thx dude! Are you going to the b-day party this weekend?

Yep; I'll be there. Your and Heather's presents have been sitting on my table for about a week or two. (No spoilers, but both items are things that each of you at one time, no matter how briefly, mentioned aloud that you'd LIKE that item.)

i.e. You're not getting socks.

BTW, as I've mentioned before, your tenacity on the Lightning-and-Fang 3-D artwork is impressive. I kinda wish there was some way for people who click on Full View to know just how much trial-and-error you had to go through to get their embrace to turn out. Sure, the naysayers could poke fun and scoff that you're using pre-made models as easily as action figures, but I've seen you hunched over your computer. Saying they're "only" pre-made models is like saying that handing a typewriter to a chimp will produce Pride and Prejudice. (Granted, sure it would be cool if you had drawn Flight Kiss Version Two by memory with only a stylus in your hand, but that wasn't your intent from the start. After all, a person COULD draw Venus or David rather than choose to shape the statues out of clay or rock or Play Doh or snow. You picked your tools and your media AND you kept hacking away until you got what you wanted. Best of all, with those models you can reuse them without having to start from scratch every single time for every single piece of artwork; that's the usefulness of 3D, I suppose. )

Damn... I need socks.

See you then!

Posing their bodies and heads took 1 or 2 hrs. Posing their lips and eyes took 4 to 6 hrs because I think there's something screwy about Light's facial "bones" that was off kilter after her head joint was tipped. I know a 3D artist would take nary so much time. But, when characters actually touch...it's difficult for me to make it look real-ish. The greatest battlefield was the materials, though. By far. I'd forgotten almost everything about them and still could do a LOT more. It's been a massive learning experience, and I've only just scratched the surface.

I'll never be able to draw freehand. Never. I'm an artistic cripple sitting in my wheelchair wishing I could run.

Maybe I could compare my draftless "art" to creating music with no singing ability. If I try to master an instrument to express what I can't sing with my given voice, is that not music? Who knows... It's not singing, that's for sure.

That was agood analogy with a musician who can only sing through an instrument like a trumpet or keyboard.

BTW, composers and songwriters are still valued by musicians who can sing but can't create.
