heh. you wouldn't be the first. even though this deviation is about 6 months old, i get a comment or favorite on it everyday. lots of 13-year-old skateboarders, as you might guess.

haha nice! I'm not a 13-year-old-skateboarder though... i'm a 23-year-old-photographer/lousy skateboarder

i wish the pic of my top deck was doing as well.. top of the world just isn't as recognised
heh

thats brilliant, nice simple concept, yet says alot. the two items any skater lives by

a great board and a pair of decent sk8 shoes

besides, the element deck is looking sweet , got a fibrelight .. sweet as fook it is

as for the shoes. those are vans, though currently i have a pair of es's and they're sweet.

haha. crap in hell, eh?
thanks for the favorite. i personally always thought this was one of better deviations of my older ones, but it didn't seem like anybody else liked it too much.

I see you changed the text in the description field. ^^

I think this is your best photograph so far. Everything from the placement of the shoes near the on-its-side-skateboard, to the desaturation, to the simple title contributes to a certain mood/feeling that this photograph successfully conveys. To me, the mood is a gritty, down-to-earth one, which is carried nicely by the B&W. The feeling is a primal desire for action via skateboarding.

Opinions will still vary, of course. I think this photograph is a little too bright, as are most of your photographs (excluding "American Classics). If I had my way with this photo, I might have tried one of three methods to make the shadows darker:
1. increase contrast and/or decrease brightness
2. curves; you know how to work them
3. selective colors; increasing the "black level" in the white, neutral, and black hues

I also may have tried manually imitating a sepia filter to make the final product appear in slight shades of brown, rather than in shades of gray, as it does currently. My old Canon S50 had a mode in which it would convert the colors to a very attractive-looking sepia for its user. My new Canon Digital Rebel, and your Fuji don't have such a feature, to my knowledge. Thus, the photographer has to change the colors to his/her liking in photoshop to achieve the sepia effect.

Nevertheless, I maintain that this is your best photograph so far, in my opinion. Keep up the effort, and the results will continue to come.

I honestly do not disrespect you for your efforts, But Honestly Skateboarding has nothing to do with this. Element Boards are much to heavy to do anything on and Nike Shoes just Blow. This is more like Product Placement.

Oop. My mistake. Vans are a bit better than Nikes.
