The story:

--

"Get up, you pest."

The animosity in the voice made the lavender haired fairy think twice. It was so nice here... So long as she lied down, untouched, unwielded by any storm that might come her way. She was so tired, and if she could just rest some more...

"Artemisia!" another voice called out, frantic. This made her frown a little. "Artemisia, oh God, please wake up!"

Whoever the owner of the voice, she was hurt - deeply hurt, though she didn't know whether in physical means or not - and one part of Artemisia wanted to respond to that. She couldn't bear to hear the pain in the somewhat familiar voice, whether she was tired or not.

So she blinked a couple of times, put a hand to her forehead and moaned a little as she tried to straighten herself up.

When she opened her eyes, an unexpected, almost weird scene greeted her.

She was back on Vivieldis. A natural smile came to her lips as she glanced around her, counting gazillion of colors surrounding her in a beautiful, harmonious variety. Despite the hostile voice in the beginning, and despite the knowledge that the owner of the voice was somewhere close by, the young fairy couldn't help but feel joy and gratitude for the fact that she was granted the blessing of seeing her home again. Quite possibly for the last time, but still, she was thankful. If she was ever to make a last stand, she knew her preference would be her home planet.

Speaking of last stands...

A blast was shot towards her, and she barely missed it. In an instant, Hena's face came in front of her, her eyes wide and tearful with panic.

"Thank goodness you are awake, for one second we thought..." She couldn't finish the sentence, and her gaze drifted away. Following her lead, Artemisia looked up and saw her friends trying to contain a dragon - Reuben - in the magical circle that they created. They were having a hard time, as it seemed, and tired though he may be, Reuben was putting up a good fight. After checking to see she had no life threatening injuries, Hena flew up to join her friends.

That was then that the dragon turned its head to look directly into the eyes of the young fairy, and she gasped as everything around them became quiet, like a muted TV.

"That's not the last you see of me, princess." the dragon said, giving out a last hiss with its forked tongue out. The ominous threat in its words made the blood in her veins boil and for an instant, Artemisia wasn't sure of what she felt: horror or anger.

Then she acted automatically, almost as if she did that before.

The magical inbalance in the realm had resulted in the creation of many portals, and one of that was directly below Reuben now. Knowing what he wanted, knowing how to lure him, Artemisia flung forward and howered right over the portal, using the bit of strength that's left to keep herself from falling in it.

It worked. One look at the lavender haired fairy, and the dragon rushed out at her.

Artemisia had meant to jump to the side at the last minute. That was the logical thing to do. But before she could do that, before she could even react, plans changed. Reuben morphed in mid-air to his human form, and held out his hand, grabbing her roughly by the neck.

The fairy gasped, the shock too much to keep her concentration. They were falling, and though she heard her friends screaming her name, she knew they couldn't help her. All was lost to her now. At least, she thought with a serene smile, Vivieldis had survived.

Reuben pulled her towards him and bent down to whisper in her ear. "See you at school, princess."

And with that, they went through the portal.

**

Artemisia bolted up in the bed she was lying on, slightly breathless and gasping for air. She frantically looked around, trying to realize where she was. Where did she land to? Where was the villain? Were the Sweetix okay?

It took a couple of minutes and a lot of gulping for her to remember that the final battle did not quite happened in that way. She had had a dream - in which the end of their battle with Reuben had drastically changed. She reached for the glass she kept up by her bedside, and drank a full glass of water in one gulp.

It seemed so real, though. And that warning... No, threat. The young fairy just couldn't help but worry over actually meeting Reuben at Alfea, which she would start attending next year. A chill went through her spine, and she jumped a meter in the air when her phone rang.

Taking it in her hands, she smiled when she saw the caller ID, and answered it without further ado. "Y'know, Perse, it's 5.00 a.m. over here."

"Oh. Is it?" Her sister asked innocently, and Artemisia heaved a content sigh as Persephone's image was projectiled from the phone. "I just tuned in to ask if everything is okay."

"No, that's alright. Thank you for calling." The younger girl said softly, not bothering to hide the longing in her eyes. She felt that she couldn't get enough of her family, the whole parents and 4-sisters package. She beamed. "You know, tomorrow is Rosie and Alex's wedding."

"Tell them I wish the best of luck, and we couldn't thank your friends enough." Persephone put in politely, and despite her childish features and behavior in general, Missie saw the true potential of a wise queen shining brightly through her elder sister.

"I will," she said, nodding, and then turned solemn. "What is new in Vivieldis?"

By the abrupt change in her voice, Persephone immediately understood what she meant, and her face turned solemn, too. "It was true. The leader of your tribe, Makaki, confirmed that they sought assistance from a dark wizard coven, and Reuben was the one who responded."

Artemisia's voice came out tiny as she asked. "What will happen?"

Her sister sighed. "Well... We are not punishing them, not for now. Their intentions were, after all, good, and they couldn't possibly have known. But we will be taking precautions." When she didn't say anything, the blue haired fairy turned up a gentle smile. "What's that, Arte? Don't you have a wedding to attend to tomorrow? We will have time to catch up to later on, go rest."

Artemisia responded to her in the same warm way. "Thanks. I love you. Give my best to everyone."

Persephone winked at her. "See you in a couple of weeks."

**

Next morning, despite having a bad night's sleep, Artemisia woke up early. This was good for her, though, because she found it almost impossibly hard to style her hair. Finally, grumbling all the way, she pulled it up to an easy bun and looked in the mirror, adjusting her skirt a bit. At last, she smiled satisfactorily at her mirror self.

"All is well." she promised herself, and for one day, she threw all her worries to the wind. She was about to get out of the room when she remembered something and went to the drawers. Opening the topmost, she drew out a small package, and smiled to herself. "Something new." she murmured under her breath, and got out of the room.

The wedding was to be held on the replica of an ancient shipwreck, something Artemisia found both original and hilarious. When she arrived on the ship, she found a commotion was underway. Mainly in the form of the soon-to-be-groom.

"But I need to talk to her!" Alex protested, glaring at Bright, who was blocking his way.

"No. Absolutely not." Bright was unrelenting, her arms crossed in front of her. "It is bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, remember? Now off you go. Bye-bye."

Seeing that a glaring war was about to start, Artemisia felt the need to step in, and took Bright's arm. "What Bright means is, we will check and see everything is fine, and make sure she will meet you in the altar. So you guys can go and... do your guy stuff."

Without waiting for a reply, she led Bright in one of the cabins, hoping that they are indeed on their way to Rosie's room. Bright shook her arm out of her grasp, and adjusted her hair, though it was, of course, in perfect condition. How Artemisia envied her sometimes. "Goodness, he can be so pushy. Thanks for the backup, Missie."

"Don't mention it," the younger girl said with a smile, and they finally entered the room. "Come on," her friend urged her, leading her to the huge balcony adjacent to the cabin.

"Oh." was the first thing Artemisia could utter, and for a moment, she was speechless. Then she got out of her reverie and rushed forward to hug the red-haired fairy. "Oh my God, Rosie, you look so beautiful."

"Thank you, sweetie," Rosie said with a gentle smile, blushing a little. Whether it was embarrasment, excitement or any other feeling, Missie wasn't sure.

"Come on, girls, one last photo while Rosie is still a bachelor," Roe said, laughing, and the girls all rushed together in front of a table laden with wedding presents.

"Cheese!"

Whatever her worries for the near future, Artemisia knew that today, with her trusted friends by her side, no dark clouds could cover the sky for her.
