The room pitch black besides themselves.
L silhouetted. M spotted. Both wear bed attire.
M appears groggy, yawning and apparently recently woken
L frustrated and fidgeting
L|M - [check watches, M casually and tired. L quickly then sighs]
M - [bolts to attention from seeing the time. then turns head to L and runs hand though hair gently]
L - [crosses arms and taps foot with tension]
L - (wake up dammit)
M - (wake up dammit)
L - [confused] (what?)
M - [confused] (what?)
L - you can't be serious. [pause] pathetic. i didn't even get off and you fucking fell asleep. again.
M - Its ten already. you're late
L - its ten, you still fell asleep
M - its ten
L - p.m. get up. you can sleep on the couch
M - i'm up. you're sleeping
L - am i? or you dreaming
M - [turns and pulls L close arms around stomach. head rests on shoulder]
L - don't. too late too bad
M - [begins to nibble on L's ear] you lie. change your mind quickly
L - [pulls away from M's play] we only lie in my sleep
M - so your lying?
L - No
M - the suns up; you sleep.
L - [pulls away] you call on me to elope and leave me unsatisfied
M - [spins back to back] i don't even remember last night
L - don't expect you to. when you drift away, you forget your past
M - no. when you wake you forget your dream
L - you don't need to repeat what i say for me to recall
M - if i could only dream
L - or maybe you don't know your dreams, how can you claim to know wether or not you are awake as you dream
M - you must sleep/
L - /for it to be a dream. but dreams fade once wake. Ignorance separating dreams and day
M - Reality
L - this is real. this is objective; one of us sleeps while the other is awake; for both; reality
M - Truth?
L - don't think dreaming is a lie think again; lies are only told when awake; but being awake is not a lie
M - wont you humor me and wake up for your job's sake? all this arguing exhausts me
L - [turns and holds close, placing one hand on M's hip and one on chest] I refuse to humor you and fall asleep till until you humor ME and see pause my reality
M - [puts head back for rest. yawning again] what are the words you demand from my lips?
L - resignation
M - i resigned ever thing to you when i admitted my love to you
L - you regret it? you still love me? tell me now while you sleep; so i know it true
M - i do. as much now as then. good night.
L - Wish you were dreaming. follow me [pause]
L - [now in arms the couple rotate around] (and [pause] fall)
[both rotate back to back and check time like beginning]
[long pause] (ah/)
M - [each other together as they hold each other] (and [pause] fall)
