I'm sorry, I'm a horrible teacher OTL
But please enjoy <3
Ask questions if you want, and I'll do my best to answer them!
It was supposed to be longer, but my computer ran out of RAM space and the scratch disks were full, so I couldn't resize the canvas to make it bigger orz.
So, I worked on this throughout class time (ICT 9/10), since I finished all my assignments super early. I barely have any more time at home, busy with homework ;A;
Not sure what to say here LOL
But I'm so tired and I should get some more sleep
I hope I can get a Part II out soon, but no guarantees.
Part 2 will probably be about drawing/shading, as my watchers wanted.

PC for the drawing, Mac for the photoshopping.
I actually have photoshop on the PC too, but it lags. LOL.
And Paint Tool Sai only works on Windows.

Great tutorial, but the font you've used is terrible. Perhaps just stick to standard fonts next time rather than using oversized pixel fonts?

my brush and water tool don't have that effect, brush is just a tick line, no smooth effect in my sai

Ah never mind, I saw your sheet of tools.
I looked at your drawings. I think the problem is that there is no pen pressure.
Do you have a tablet? If not, I'm not sure how the effect would work with a mouse, since I've never tried drawing with one.
I'm not sure how these effects would work without pressure. As you can see from the example shown in my tut, they all taper off at the end. This is because of pressure.
For the brush tool, it uses pressure to have soft and hard effects.
For the water tool, you may have to play around with the settings underneath the tool before it gets that effect. If you want, I can show you my settings.

If that's the case, it's hard to get the right effects.
If you want to do a similar "taper" effect with a mouse, try this tutorial --> [link]
You can use it to make your lineart taper off at the end, or "pointy".

huh? what version is this?
I don't have the "inv." tool.
I can only select normal, blend, multiply....and pthers.

The inv. tool should be at the top bar, next to the stabilizer.
If you didn't invert it, it should say "Normal". It has a button with two arrows pointing opposite directions.

Why don't I have the ink pen? do I have to download it or is it just named differently on mine?

I've researched it a bit. Apparently, the ink pen is not a standard tool on SAI.
If you don't have it, you could try to make your own. There's a tutorial about it here: [link] .

If you can, in the next one, tell people how they can change their brush shortcuts :3 I ended up having to explain this to several people who weren't really using the keyboard to change brush type/opacity/size/everything else. x3
