They both use to play until a Salamance attacked them and Ruby battle him, and saaving Sapphire from that Salamance, it attacked Ruby in his head making him the scar D:

( I like Brotherhood a lot more, but I wouldn't talk badly about the original >w< It was the first one I liked, after all! xDDD hahaha~ the original was very good but Brotherhood has many more twists and cool stuff I think the main thing about the original is that people thought it was very depressing and I guess it is compared with Brotherhood, which is serious but it has funny parts and epic parts too oh, the Brotherhood anime is finished! ^^ and dubbed seriously you should watch it dubbed... funimation does such a wonderful job with the characters' voices teehee~ )
