Awesome! Does DA allow submissions of PDF's? you could put it all into a PDF then have a preview so people can download it as a book :3

moni158 In reply to chi-u [2012-08-28 21:39:24 +0000 UTC]

Yay!

So what would you charge? The little booklet will be about 10-12 pages long >.> and about A4.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chi-u In reply to moni158 [2012-08-28 21:42:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, you would be drawing all the pages etc right? Like cover and back page aswell? Depends on what you want on it, if its just your piccys and no other design elements I can probably do it for free

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moni158 In reply to chi-u [2012-08-28 21:47:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I will be drawing all the stuff for it *^u^* I just want you to assemble and sort out the typography/graphics etc and it will be quite a bit of work, so it would only be right to pay you for your time and effort.

I really like the background on your custom widget tab ( top left corner) , if you could give the booklet a notebook feel, I would be over the moon!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chi-u In reply to moni158 [2012-08-28 21:53:15 +0000 UTC]

Ok sure thing ^^ so would you like to keep the grey background you have on the images at the moment, or would you like them to be transparent and overlaying a notebook style background? So i'm guessing you like simplistic minimalistic designs? like these kind of things? [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] If i can get a feel for what you like, it will be easier to do your website and the book ^^ Once I get a better idea of what you want, I can figure out a price

moni158 In reply to chi-u [2012-08-28 22:05:35 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking those old yellow note books with a little bit of grungy texture? probably best to get rid of the grey Maybe the inner pages can have a binding along the side to mimic a real sketch/note book.

>>> I love this one! [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chi-u In reply to moni158 [2012-08-28 22:19:29 +0000 UTC]

Thats exactly what I was thinking! So kind like a dirty paper style with some binding. Ok thats great, I can work with that ^^ So do you have the PSD files that you can get rid of the grey on? Save them like that if you could to make it easier ^^ And maybe if you could do a rough sketch of what you want a basic page to look like that would be great! I was thinking, if you have a full page of eyes like you do here, and you have a few tips that you wanna add, you could do something like this: [link] but I will use proper fonts and make little arrow graphics. A font like this maybe [link] and little arrows similar to this: [link]
Awesome! I can do something like that :3 I loved that design the best out of all the websites I showed you, you have a real eye for design! you will make a great graphic designer one day ^^
Do you has any tips for a first time water painter? D: [link]
i gots to goto work now >.< i will be back on a computer in about an hour

moni158 In reply to chi-u [2012-08-28 22:28:48 +0000 UTC]

Perfect! text and graphic arrows! You are so good at this XD

I'll do some rough sketches and send you the PSD. files

Yessss! that would be awesome..and oh you I hope I am at least decent at design/typography one day...its been my biggest enemy so far...OTL

Thats badass! Specially that hand! Just remember to keep the water transparent, and think of what water does in a vacuum, ( like in all the space movies where it forms into blobs).

Awesome!
Sounds great! :3

Aw I was in your same position a year ago, but I have learnt so much since working in this job, but these examples I am sending you will hopefully teach you some stuff so you don't head point blank into the industry

Thanks! Korra is quite manly so she was easy to draw, and fun to manipulate her pose~
Oh of course! Silly me water is most definitely transparent! XD Well, she is working that water with anger so it is quite rough, so I will add a little transparency in the blue-er (lol bluer?) area's once I add a background. And some floating blobs! Thanks! ^^ I am just composing the email for my samples now, I will let me know once I send it in the mean time, if you find any other examples of stuff you like, let me know!

Thankyou! you are too kind! !

Rougher water could work too? You paint so differently to me >.> I always use quite tame mute colours in the beginning and give them some life in the editing stages. Its really hard to hop in with bright colours. I don't know how people do it..OTL...

Waiting eagerly!
If I see anything that catches my eye, I will send it your way

Hehe! that will be awesome! Very cool pose and the clothes look very good expression is awesome too!

I do fire in stages, the physical flames then the lighting with overlay and luminosity ^^ Best to do the fire last, but remember its the stronger light source.

Can you email me the eye images (PSD so I can remove grey BG) and I will do a mockup of the book today and see what you think, then we can make changes from there etc But if your at work and don't have access to the files right now thats fine :3

Hmmm I was just having a search as work has died down a bit and this is probably the best I have found! [link] I did some research and I don't think shutterstock lets you buy just 1 image, they have packages that make you buy enough credits for 5 images at a minimum. istockphoto lets you buy just one, thats why I picked this one. It also has a spine, and the way it is placed makes it easy for me to duplicate and make a 2 page spread or a single page book depending on what you want. So, what do you think of this one? If you like it, you will need to buy 10 credits for the size you will need. Which will cost about $20 (the size up is probably better, but thats like $45 >.< Upto you what wanna get). If this is ok and you like this image (I can lighten it a bit if its to dark) then I can add it onto the commission price and we can go from there

chi-u In reply to moni158 [2012-08-29 00:34:43 +0000 UTC]

Also, take a look at these [link]
Places like shutterstock and istockphoto have some cool ones, but you gotta buy credits to get them (its fairly cheap methinks). So if you find one on there that you like (a light colour would probably be better so your art and text stands out better, like this kind of shade [link] ). So, if you happen to fall in love with a certain one, you will just have to buy it and send it to me ^^
Check this search result out at istockphoto (we use istockphoto at work and it works great) [link] Maybe have a dig through that site for one you like or even take a look over at shutterstock (they seem to have some better ones) [link]
this one is pretty cool! But not sure if it has the type of binding you want~ [link]

Sweet! There isn;t much on at work right now (unless something pops up later) so I can hopefully work on a mockup at work for you Also, here is a screenshot of the plans for your domain name when it comes to the website. So you can choose from those ^^ [link] Just thought it would be easier to buy a few years up front so you don;t have to worry about renewing later, but its upto you ^^

Thanks! ^^ i had so much fun building her pose in the original sketch
Yes! Thats a great way to do fire, I do it in stages too, and at the end, add the brightest luminosity on a layer clip ^^
Yep, definately the strongest light source! ^o^ Thats why I love the fact that she has darker clothes, colours that aim away from colours that are in fire. That way the highlights on her clothes are really gonna stand out! I'm excited to get home and work on it more

chi-u In reply to moni158 [2012-08-28 23:40:37 +0000 UTC]

haha its interesting seeing others styles though isn't it? :3
Ah I see! Well, I did start with a basic shape of dark colour because I knew underneath/inside the water would be quite dark and then I built on top of that, but most of the dark colour got eliminated XD I will need to play with it again this arvo and also add more colours once I put my background in

Great! Almost done! ^^ Is there any particular things that you are having alot of trouble with? I could try to elaborate them a bit for you in the email
