Description:
When Monomer was very young, she was best friends with her brother Rowan, and neither had any other friends. However, when she grew a little older, Monomer changed inexplicably into a nasty young girl who realised she could get almost anything she wanted by flirting with boys, and quickly spiralled down an immoral path of selfishness and manipulation. Her brother Rowan was horrified by this and begged her to change her ways, but she cast him aside. When she was much older and left to join the Water Clan, and her bond with her brother was well beyond destroyed, only then did Monomer have a sudden moment of self-realisation and saw what she was doing.

While building actual real friendships with the members of the Water Clan, Monomer re-invented herself and became a good person again, with new morals and ways of acting, and vowed to only do good from then on. However, she remains utterly ridden with regret and guilt over the things she had done, most prominently the guilt for betraying her brother and throwing him aside when he tried to help her. The way she is now is friendly and kind towards those around her, but her intense guilt and loathing for herself makes her endlessly strive to do or give anything for other people, at any expense to herself, in a desperate attempt to compensate for her past. All of her recent friends like her very much, but she still hates herself and feels dirty for having anyone or anything left at all, and seeks to only please others and gain nothing in return.

When Monomer met Polymer, she didn’t want to get close to him due to her obsession with not deserving happiness, but even after she told him her past he still forgave her and wanted to be with her. They are currently in a relationship and Monomer is happy, although her deep, painful self-hatred and regret still haunt her subconscious, and make her severely depressed on frequent occasion. She wishes to make amends with her brother, but Rowan remains emotionally unable to see her. She is a water element and can control water at will, usually playing around with water spirals thoughtfully.
