Species: Violet Turaco or Violaceous Plantain-Eater (Violette toerako)
Latin name: Tauraco Violaceus (formerly Musophaga Violacea)
Originates from West Africa.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…They are unmistakable birds, often shy and inconscipious in their treetop habitat.
…Their plumage is a glossy violet, hence the name, except for the yellow forehead, chestnut-red crown, white ear coverts and the orange-red bill. When it flies, the inside of the wings is red, just like in most Turacos.
…Though locally common and not considered endangered, they do suffer from the illegal pet trade.
