Description
The last Burdle other than the bladebeaked burrowing Burdle is the pygmy burdle.
Burdles start their lives out as small predators living in the shallows that grow gradually in size until thy become apex predator adults that live their life solitarily in the open ocean.
The sea stewards eradicated all of them in the original timeline, and in this timeline they nearly made the same mistake, but they managed to stop before it was too late. Th last burdles were left alone and recovered very slowly. Modern Pygmy Burdles are descended from as little as 30 individuals. Inbreeding depression had been a problem for them and only today they have mostly recovered their genetic diversity.
The modern pygmy burdles are neotenic and don’t grow to larger sizes like their ancestors, they are only around 1m long and spend most of their live in the tanglewild, far away from civilization. The haunt small fish and snarks, and compete for food with urutruels, but urutruels have crushing beaks (better suited to crush harder food) and pygmy burdle have many cone shaped teeth(better quieted for catching fish), so these species may actually feed on different foods.
The Pygmy burdles are shy and timid, and will flee if they see greenskeepers, under normal circumstances there is no chance for the to eat them.
Predatory dolfinches on the other hand are apparently a treat to unguarded greenskeepers out in the tanglewilds.
