Description
Done for the latest issue of The Stool Pigeon. A little bit tweaked from the version that appears in the paper, but not by much. I don't think it really works that well, it was kind of rushed, so you might need to track back a couple of times to actually understand it.If you're in the UK you can pick up a free copy in one of the many many shops/clubs/bars listed here[link]

I love how this is put.
Sad kid 1 and sad kid 2. Sad kid 2 decided to write a song about being sad and stuff, Sad kid 1 buys the song and relates.
Sad kid 2 gets more popular and slowly begins writing about being rich and happy and perfect.
Sad kid 1 stops relating and decides to fix it.
Sad kid 2 is back to being nothing, while sad kid 1 is finally content.

I saw this comic as a way of decisions. One simply put some music in while the other decided to MAKE music that he wanted. And while he lived his dreams the other just listened in aspiration to this man. So you should just GO AND DO IT! DON'T BE A FAN! GET FANS!

It happens every day, you find a fav artist, they sell out, you move on. There's no reason to make their life miserable just so you can have your own happiness back- you can always find it somewhere else..

I like how much there is to look at. I felt like a kid looking at a cleaner Hieronymus Bosch image. I realized that I was a lot like the fan--of course without his terrible actions at the end. I have loved a band for years and when the mood of their music started lightening up and the themes changed, I didn't understand or like it as much anymore. I have heard a lot of their fans who feel the same. But I don't want anyone to be miserable. I want the artists I care for to do what they want to do.

I meant this to be a metaphor for any kind of change a band undergoes, rather than implying bands should be miserable and get shit when they cheer up. Often it's the other way around or has nothing to do with the tone of the music at all. It just seems that the more successful a band gets, the less they have to say that's of any substance or even remotely relatable to the listener. They lose all sense of urgency or passion. But then I think it has a lot to do with simple ageing as well.

I figured you might meant that, too--changes in general. I do think some of it could have to do with aging. If I wrote poetry, my tone would be much different from how it was at 20. But more than age even, I wonder if the new experiences an artist gets by signing onto something big changes their angle quite a lot. With their lifestyle, they get further away from much of their audience?
