I hope so, I like Pluto, the little one at the end of the Solar System, just like the little mascot or baby brother to all the rest of the planets.
Nevertheless I guess all the average Joe's like you and me are still going to regard him as a planet and Charon as his li'l moon. Then the knows-it-all can pipe down! As you said they have been wrong before.
And on top of that, Pluto should have remained a planet for sentimental reason if not for other things. A bit corny statement I know, but that's me sometimes
