It is also one of the most crowded. However if you're willing to wake up early and do the hike before sunrise you'll have the entire the trail to yourself and get to see these beautiful lakes and mountains in the amazing sunrise light. On the way back down you'll pass a ton of hikers coming up, and then you'll be glad you woke up early!

Ah, I've been hiking up here. You're right, it can get pretty crowded. You can also go late in the day, but then there's the risk of thunderstorms always.

I favorite most of your work and you are one of the best photographers I've ever seen, but this shot is perfect. I feel like I am there. The light is incredible. I know you don't need any more compliments so I'll refrain from going overboard. I would love to just follow you for a day and watch a genius at work, maybe I could pick up on something. You clearly know where to be and what angles to set up. Do you just sit in this one spot and take shots as the light moves or do you take a couple of this location and then run over to another spot? One question I did have was did you use a polarizer on this shot?

thanks so much! im glad you like it. i almost always just shoot one spot when doing a landscape. i find its a mistake people make a lot.. to take a photo of sunrise for the fist minute and then run off to try to get somewhere else. things can change so drastically in just 30 minutes i find its worth waiting around. and no i didnt use a polarizer on this shot.. only a 2gss nd filter
