This piece came about because I happen to be fortunate enough to be friends with a great guy like Jeff Powell. Jeff is an amazing letterer. More people should appreciate letterers. It’s the invisible art. Most people don’t notice it until it’s done really poorly. But when it’s done right it adds to the story and the characters. Without lettering I would never have known to make a “Thwip” sound when I’m pretending….I mean…used to pretend I’m Spider-man. Go take a look at the Atomic Robo comic. The character, story and art are great. (That’s why it was nominated for an Eisner award!) But take a close look at the logo. It’s classic! I always tell Jeff it deserves to be on mugs, t-shirts, etc.

As for this piece I tried to make it look like a propaganda piece for Tesladyne and Atomic Robo, similar to the WWII Uncle Sam poster. The Peace through Science banner is my attempt to be as cool as Jeff making logos! This piece is extremely environmentally friendly because it was done entirely on the computer with no paper using Illustrator and Photoshop.
