In honor of my best friend Holly who is no longer with us. She was slaughtered by a mountain lion last August. Tomorrow, March 5, would of been her 12th birthday. I miss her dearly.

I’ve been working on this pic all week...I had to make it perfect. Those are real pictures of her along the border...Holly as an adult, a puppy, with her puppies...I actually redrew the pic several time (its hard drawing a pug! @_@)

You don't have to or anything...but I would really appreciate s on this. Unlike most of my pictures, I poured my heart and soul into this pic. And if you are curious as to the whole story, read on.

The most painful day of my life…

This last August, I moved from my home in California. I had lived there all my life, so it was a big change for me. My Dad and I moved up earlier so I could start high school on time. My Mom, my sister, and all of my pets were to stay down at my old house until escrow went through. I begged my Dad everyday, hoping I could convince him to bring up one of my pets. He wouldn’t budge.

The day of the big move finally came. I never thought it would actually happen since my parents had been telling me about it since the 3rd grade…but it happened. It was weird…I didn’t cry when I said goodbye to my 40+ fish…my turtles, my 3 hens, my cat…my home of 14 years, all of which I would probably never see again (yes, I had to give up a lot of my pets during the move). I didn’t cry when I said goodbye to my friends, some who I wouldn’t see for months later, others never again. I didn’t cry when I said goodbye to my sister, my Mom, my family…but Holly…for some strange reason I broke down in tears. But why? I would be seeing her when my Mom and sister came up…or would I?

Everyday after I moved, I asked how Holly was. My Dad was about to make a trip down to CA for some of our stuff and I begged him to bring Holly. Little did I know she was already dead. A few days after the move, she was abducted by a mountain lion. She never stood a chance…Pets had gone missing from many families…but the newspaper never said a thing. Not until it was found stalking a 2-year-old. Just a few months ago, a hiker was killed by a mountain lion in my home town…wouldn’t doubt if it was the same animal. She was only let out for about 15 minutes to go potty…and she was snatched from my own backyard...my baby was gone forever.

Yet my Mom, my sister, my Dad never told me, not even when I asked about her EVERYDAY! No…they waited until a few months later when my Mom finally came up. I had been talking to my sister on the phone (she decided to stay in CA) when she told me that one of my favorite birds (actually, the one who died last Tuesday) had broken his leg. She said my Mom didn’t want to tell me because she thought I would worry. I was so mad, I even asked her “If Holly had died would you of told me!?” and even as I said it, I knew it sounded stupid…of course she would of…so I thought.

Hours later, my Mom came through the door and I was ready to argue (or run down to Holly, whatever came first)…she turned to me, and I was stunned by the look on her face. “Something happened…” and I broke down in tears. I knew she was gone…I knew…I always do.

Now I cry for her, always and forever, my Holly.
