The colours are so 70s interior decoration! Orange and brown: two colours I tend to shy away from to work with. I just don't feel drawn (ha ha) towards them usually. But in this piece it seemed appropriate

I love the way I got the bacterial broccoli-head (BBH) to look. I wet-washed the chalk pastel to make the background, and the BBH is done in oil pastel with a scratching technique (looove the scratching technique)
