There's really one thing about that whole "you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain" that I feel may deserve a good rebuttal.
Doesn't it imply that you're still able to live a life of heroism with a heroic death at the end of it?

I believe so. I think it's implying that some people are set out to be heroes for a lifetime (Or at least, for a good length of time until they retire from said heroism) and some aren't.
