Personality Summary;
Thistlepaw is quiet; selectively mute, he only talks to cats he seriously trusts and feels like he can be himself around. He is very close to his brother, Nettlepaw, and often follows him around like a ghost. Most of Thistlepaw's lies and insecurities lies in a low confidence and self-esteem, and he holds himself very low in comparison to other cats around him. He's very easily threatened personally, and is more likely to just start crying instead of getting angry about it. He uses his brother as a kind of shield, as annoyed as Nettlepaw gets with him. He believes his lies protect himself, but what he really needs is a close friend to boost his confidence.
History
Before Birth
Thornfur was a laid back, calm she-cat with no real goals in life. She was satisfied to be a warrior, satisfied to do her daily duties and nothing more. Her sister, Briarpelt, was the complete opposite. She always tried to compete with Thornfur, and much to her chagrin, she didn't seem to care. Thornfur ended up falling pregnant to a tom within the Clan; however, out of a choice of three or four options, the father didn't seem to want to step forward. Thornfur didn't really care, and she was happy and calm through a very easy and slow pregnancy. Briarpelt, despite not wanting to be out-competed, still helped her sister through her pregnancy. The fatter her tummy got, the more lax Thornfur became. She didn't stay in the nursery, nor in the camp, and just decided to loaf around in sunny spots throughout the territory. As the medicine cat put more stress that it wasn't good for her kits for Thornfur to run about, the more Thornfur shrugged her off and continued to do what she wanted.
She ended up going into labor in the middle of the territory, fortunately safe, and gave birth to three happy, healthy kittens, who she decided to name after her family's tradition of spiky plants. Nettlekit, the oldest, and biggest of the three. His needle-claws pierced her nose when she tried to lick him. Hollykit, the second born, a small she-kit with blindingly white fur. And lastly, Thistlekit, a small tortoiseshell tom- who, mistakenly, was addressed as a she-kit at first. Briarpelt is who found them, lying out in a small clearing, and after a solid verbal reaming, she helped the new queen and her kits back to camp.
Kithood
Thistlekit, Nettlekit, and Hollykit seemed happy and healthy. The Clan was pleasantly surprised by Thistlekit's true gender, and Thornfur seemed to be pleased that her little trio was so different from each other. After a few weeks, their eyes opened. It quickly became apparent that Hollykit, with her blue eyes and white fur, was as deaf as one could be. Nettlekit was brash and pushy, and often shoved his two smaller siblings around. Thistlekit always stayed by Hollykit, and those two often were found playing while Nettlekit would occasionally join in. Thornfur proved herself a somewhat capable mother, but never kept a super close eye on her kits. When they were about two moons old, Hollykit had managed to wander out of camp. Thornfur was completely unaffected, insisting her daughter was simply taking a walk.
Briarpelt, on the other hand, was pissed off. She couldn't believe her sister was being so lax with the entire situation. Angry, she went out of camp- only to see a fox burying Hollykit's body for later. Back in camp, before Briarpelt had returned, Thistlekit was wailing to Nettlekit, not leaving his side as their mother offered neither of them comfort. Briarpelt came in, carrying Hollykit's muddied, bloody, and battered body into camp, and began to scream at Thornfur. The she-cat laid there, showing no other emotion than slight surprise at how her sister was acting. She insisted it was fine; she still had her two sons, after all. Briarpelt pointed out that while her two sons were crying, she did nothing to care for them. Briarpelt had lunged for her sister before another cat had caught her, and, angry, Briarpelt scooped up her nephews and spat at her sister's paws, carrying them to her own nest.
Thornfur did not care; in fact, she just disassembled her nursery nest and went back to being a warrior, letting Briarpelt in turn go to the nursery to finish raising Thistlekit and Nettlekit. Thistlekit had gone quiet once Hollykit had passed, and Nettlekit seemed angry; angry at the world, angry at his mother, and angry at his brother. Briarpelt did her best to raise the two boys, with only minimal input and effort from Thornfur, until they were apprenticed.
Apprenticeship
Thistlepaw, now an apprentice, is incredibly clingy to both his aunt and brother, but is showing signs of the same, lax state of his mother, which greatly worries his aunt. Ongoing
