Description
*full view is probably a good idea*ok so here's the step by step on how i go about doing a finished piece of art.
now i'm not saying this is the right way, or the only way or whatever, this is my way, so if you start calling me out telling me that i shouldn't tell you how to draw, then that's just not the case. i'm not telling anyone how to draw, just showing them how i go about doing it.
time elapsed, probably around 3 hours start to finish.

My process is similar to yours. Except my second step is more simplified.

I guess I will start using a light box - never considered it... But I have a question - When you draw.... what size paper are you using, and when you print out to transfer to the box - Are you printing to the same size? Thanks

Really helpful tips.
Hey, are there any tricks for exaggerating the perspective for a character's pose??? I always find foreshortening really difficult.

A light box lets you trace a rough sketch with a heavier line and make the final drawing without ruining the intial design.

try and build one yourself!!!!!!!!
It's normally much cheaper than buying one and you could make it to whatever size you'd want. Just a thought.

This is a good process...although...I don't think I do "gestures" that well...I usually just use stick figures/simplified skeletons and basic shapes.
And why I say I don't do gestures that well...
Because when I TRIED to do gestures in this seven week life drawing session at my art center...they don't look ANYWHERE near your Step 1.

Wow, this is a huge help! I sketch pretty messily, so I've had a hard time figuring out how to come out with clean lineart. I've not seen any comic artists who don't draw directly onto their bristol paper every step of the way. It's good to know how to get around that.

Thanks for Sharing Ngboy, I really appreciated seeing this just because these kinds of things are interesting for those who don't know what artists go through to make images. It's work, it's effort...it's fun!!
peace.

Dude, i came across this perchance while trying to see how many UFS card artists are on DA XD
And it has opened my eyes. Thank you. *goes off to buy a lightboxs, or rather moan about how he cant afford one*
I dont have a tablet and shizzle unfortunatly ^_^ but the initial sketch was enough to show me im not doing anything 'wrong' when i draw ^_^ (i do essentially the same thing, but tend to go all the way to final on the same sheet, making my stuff really messy >.<
Thanks man ^_^ You rule.
You're work is sensational btw *drools*
