In this shot, Danielle's showing off her magic core. The most easy concept to compare it to would be that of her soul or her consciousness. It allows her to change herself, and those who similarly have such a magic core (and some other things that would take way too long to fully list out). Nobody's sure how one exactly gains them. Most people who have them will be born with them, but there are stories of people claiming to gain one later in life.

If it were fully explainable though, it wouldn't be magic.
