Oriental Short-Clawed Otter - Aonyx cinerea cinerea

This is the smallest otter species and weighs 5Kg.

These otters occur around rivers and coastal waters in family groups of up to 12 animals. They are very vocal, with calls ranging from mewing like a cat to high-pitched whistling.

Unlike the larger otters, they do not swim and catch prey in their mouths, but search through the mud with their forepaws; the prey will be held in their paws whilst they eat.
