Description
This is a digital drawing tutorial for beginners.I've recently discovered myself how to use a graphic tablet
to achieve high-level artworks, and would like to share that
knowledge with you.
This tutorial is designed for those who know how to
draw traditionally. There's no 'magic trick' here, I'm
just giving you the tools that will allow you to use your
drawing abilities with a computer, which I think has many
new possibilities for an artist.

The second part of this tutorial, Digital Painting, can be found here
Enjoy!

Thanks for the DD!
I'd like to thank everyone for their
And I truly hope this tutorial will indeed help you become a digital artist!

Thank you for doing this! I've just started trying to paint digitally, and it's really helpful to see a step by step showing you exactly which brush settings to fiddle with, and how the eyedrpper works

Well, you've got all kinds of graphic tablets, but most prefer the Wacom brand.
The cheaper kind is the one I use, called Bamboo fun. The more expensive models are the Intuos series.
Bamboo Fun sells for about $200, and it's great. You can achieve very high results with this little one.
Intuos will cost you about $400 or even more.
So I definitely recommend Bamboo Fun, as it's not that expensive(considering), it's very reliable and perfect for both beginners and pro's alike. If you'd like to get into digital drawing\painting, I think you'll love it.

Bamboo Fun, huh? I see. So, if I want to study Game Art and Design next year, the best choice would be?
I'm asking because I want to be sure if I'm better buying a Wacom from the beginning or if I should waste money on a Bamboo first. I'm planning on buying a medium size Wacom, but I won't do anything until I start on the campus and everything.

That's what I'm trying to say - buying a Wacom Bamboo Fun is not a waste of money. It's excellent.
If you have no problem spending three times as much on a Wacom Intuos - go on right ahead, but it doesn't mean the Bamboo series is less professional at all.
My friend has an Intuos and I prefer my Bamboo Fun over his.
I've used it through school of Visual Arts and now as a professional interactive designer.
Wacom intuos is a brand name. That's why it's ridiculously expensive. Wacom's Bamboo Fun doesn't have that famous name, but it's still excellent and offers a much better value for its price.

That's odd.
In some strange, strange way your tutorial helped me a lot, even though I am using a completely different program so of course I am struggling a bit. However, it had helped me so much I've actually begun to like drawing lineless and using the brush tool, which I despised.
Thank you

You are unbelievably amazing! XD
I had the exact same tablet (small), but I could never draw perfectly because the drawing area was just too small...
(Planning to get one which is 1:1 with my screen)
