Description
NOTE: Print does not have WatermarkThis is my entry for the "Mystery of the Far East" by lucretia-stock and alegion-stock
A Detailed Close-up of her Face and an Animated GIF of the image creation progress is HERE
The stock image had such an emotional quality I wanted my image to portrayed that ...the Geisha's whole stance captured a feeling of release and joy.
I also wanted to incorporate a Haiku feeling; simple with subtle depths. The title is derived from the Haiku I wrote for the image (see below). It is almost too cliche but I couldn't resist
I had a lot of trouble with the hair ... I tried to do a traditional Geisha Wig and then have it look windblown ... not as easy as I thought it would be! The make-up is less traditional than I originally had planned ...just did not work with the emotion in the piece so it is modified and I hope the Traditionalist out there will forgive me.
Last but not least I wrote a Haiku (my very first and with help from A word about haiku - by Michael James plus I noted him and he was kind enough to respond and it helped a lot. Any errors in the style and format of the poem are all mine ...and the title is not for the Haiku but the image as I don't believe you are suppose to give Haiku a title!
Spring wind moves
Winter clouds
Soon the dragonflies!
The wonderful images that inspired this piece are from
The Geisha: lucretia-stock Grass Hill: Alegion-stock
The Sky is altered from an image of my own over an extension of the original Alegion image to create a "raincloud" look. The Hairpiece is created from her dress and drawn in PS

Thanks a bunch ... again!
Winning is not a bad thing but it is not really the main reason I enter (except when money was tight and I needed a Subscription ). For some reason I really like working to a subject ... not that I don't come up with things on my own but it gives me a direction and I can be a bit scattered.

I am the same way. Having a pre-destined direction to explore is sometimes much easier for me.
I still think it will do very well, indeed.

Thank you ... it was fun and I got really meditative while doing it ... of course I was listening to "Music for Zen Meditations" while working on it ... that could have had something to do with my mood

...This is, by far, one of THE most beautiful things I've ever seen.
It's so simple, but it's also extremely complicated. It seems to hold some sort of hidden message.
