I don't make it using that stuff. There's a button on Spore that lets me make an avatar.

In Spore, you can make an avatar by going to the test preview (The very top button on the top when you are creating your creature), then on your bottom-left hand side there are three buttons (taking a picture, making an avatar, and making a movie)
