Perhaps this is an odd question, but I'm truthfully wondering, why is it so many people hate iPods?
I was hesitant at first to get one, and eventually bought one quite a while after the iPod-loving-fad had started. I did not get one to be popular, or to join some dumb trend, but rather, I really love music, and I have a ton of it. Contrary to the people who've said iPods aren't worth the money and are just junk, I'd heard from other music-loving friends, just the opposite. Theirs were lasting, nicely, and did them a lot of good. After some convincing and looking into things, I finally went out and got one, and spent a very long time transferring my hundreds of CDs to it. It's absolutely wonderful, to be able to have all of my music in one place, in this nice little mp3 player... I no longer have to lug that giant CD case everywhere, and if I want to change what I'm listening to, all I need to do is press a button and I have access to over 5,000 songs. With my purchase, I had the choice to engrave whatever I wanted onto the back, for free, so I chose to do my name, which I thought might mildly help should it be stolen, or if someone else has theirs in the same general area and we have a mix-up. If I have any problems with its reliability, I have Apple Care, and Apple will send me a new one. I've had my iPod for about a year now, and I have had absolutely no problems, whatsoever, and I am completely happy with it. I hook it up in the car and can play any of my beloved music, whenever I want, through the stereo, with a lot of ease. I bring it with me when I walk my dogs, and it's a whole lot easier than having to carry my CD player. It works with iTunes, which I rather enjoy and had on my computer long before even getting my iPod, it has a lot of nice options and is designed well. As for the headphones that came with it, well, those somewhat bother me, so I just went on using my old ones instead.
Is it really that people hate iPods, or do they hate the fad? I can understand if it's the latter, but when it comes to the iPod itself, I'm going to need more explanation. Perhaps it's just that I, and the people I know, have had a better experience with it than the majority?
Anyway, I apoligize for the horrifically long comment, but after seeing so many on here that go, "Yeah! I HATE iPods!" I thought I'd give an opinion from the other side of things.
If the point of your piece is not to knock iPods, but rather the psychotic fad around them, then I respect that. Your piece makes a statement, and it's nicely put-together.
Also, I sincerely apoligize if I've bothered you in any way with what I've said. That was never my intent.

I myself own a 20 gig iPod Photo. It is not the iPod itself I was mad at when I made this, I was mad at all the shitty parodies I was seeing, especially on dA. These parodies sucked so horribly and where so without thought that I got mad at the people who did them. Also, I hated the way people danced in the actual apple commercials, so I shot one to amuse myself.
Trust me, art does not always convey the message it's audience tells you it does.

YES! i hate the pod, too. i wasted 2 ot them in 3 months, just by using them. they're made for fashionvictims, not for musiclovers. show the pod every single guy, you meet in the streets, but NEVER hear music with this f*ing mp3-player - it will broke, because it's not made for that!
