how bout the head? maybe get inflatable children's arm floats and paint them beige. Then run some cloth through to keep them together. Its easy to carry to cons and it stregthens your lungs XD

2 Measuring tapes (with a button and not a switch to retract) bottom against bottom.

Remove the areas of the "shell" not in contact with the tape's core.

Place these in the bottommost part of the blade.

Make the extra sections from 2 halves

place the tape in between the halves.

Make the rest of the parts.

FOR TRIGGER:
connect wooden strips from the buttons to the inside of the handle,if you are using bamboo for the handle (its almost no tang lol) leave a gap between guard and hadleand attach a piece of rolled up newspaper driven through the gap in bamboo and attach the newspaper to the blade between your buttons. place wooden strips over your buttons and make sure its long enough the end up outside the newspaper

wrap handle with a layer of cardboard from base to guard. Wrap. Due to the gap around the wood pieces in the sword, after extendng the blade, you can squueze the part of the handle under the guard to retract it

Complicated but... have fun!

xD Seems complicated, but I can see that it would work if there's enough patience.

How abut you trying to make one?
