The team nodded Atif moving to make sure he was with his sister getting his force field up to give protection. Billy and Tommy stayed together Billy’s hands starting to glow purple. Wanda laughed at the children as her and her duplicates started their attack. One Wanda shot a hex at Ashley and Atif, but it bounced back hitting her sending her flying into the wall. Ashley and Atif took the offensive state and moved forward Ashley spraying out solid jets of water keeping the duplicate pinned down. Another of the duplicates went after the Maximoff twins. She missed cutting Tommy as he was too quick, however she did get Billy in his left arm. Billy yelled in pain and brought up his right hand and punched her with a hex blast sending her stumbling back. Billy tore his shirt and wrapped the cut as Tommy started to running circles around the clone of their mother to keep her pinned down as the air was being siphoned out of the tunnel Tommy was creating.
Lily glared at her duplicate and held out her hands raising two of the heavy crates into the air. “I’ve waited a long time to finally take you down a notch Wanda. Always thought you were too stuck up of a bitch.”, Lily said letting a crate fly the duplicate ducking and just getting grazed. “You’ll pay for that you little traitor!”, The clone shouted starting to fire hex blasts at Lily. Lily used the other crate as a shield till it had splintered apart completely then switched to just hand to hand rushing and tackling Wanda into another crate smashing through it. The pair exchanging blows and Lily not seeming to care that she was bleeding wanting to just pummel this duplicate so she could move on to help her cousin with the real thing. Rose growled circling the Wanda that was to be her opponent letting her fangs out and her nails grow into claws. “Look a Howlett without claws. How sad for you to be the only one without a set of your own.”, the clone taunted. Rose lunged forward slashing at Wanda’s face leaving four deep marks across her face. “The claws I have work just as well as my dad’s do.”, Rose snarled. The Wanda she was facing shot her blindly with a bolt that sent Rose crashing into a crate but she stood back up pulling splinters from her arms her body healing easily. Wanda narrowed her eyes. “Howlett healing…”, Wanda grumbled as she continued to take the offensive and started throwing more hex balls at Rose who kept coming at her wanting her combat to be up close and a tad more personal. Rose’s tactic forced Wanda to change hers and move to the defensive as she was now drawn into hand to hand combat having her knife as her weapon.
Cora Lee held up a hand taking the knife away from her Wanda and turned it into a small ball shaking her head. “No knives today bitch.”, Cora Lee taunted before moving into to take Wanda one. Even in hand to hand Wanda was older and more skilled than Cora Lee hitting more of her blows that Cora Lee was hitting her. However this didn’t deter Cora Lee who just kept coming at Wanda with renewed anger after each hit. The two continued to exchange blows. The Wanda looked like she was about to get off a hex ball at Cora Lee but instead actually aimed and hit Tommy knocking him to the ground freeing the duplicate he was keeping detained. That duplicate was quick to dive at Billy the pair rolling on the ground exchanging blows. And as the others handled the duplicates Landon and the real Wanda were circling each other. Landon keeping his tight grip on his dual blades as Wanda held her knife. “I apparently underestimated you boy. It won’t happen again.”, Wanda declared. Landon smirked. “You’re right it won’t because you are going to LOSE.”, Landon said. “And to give you a fighting chance though I won’t use my powers if you don’t.”, Landon said. Wanda snorted. “Fine I’ll kill you with either my knife or my bare hands it’ll make for a better story.”, Wanda said moving to lunge at him. Months of training with Logan Landon was prepared and was able to counter the strike and the two moved about the warehouse fighting exchanging glancing blows. Landon drawing first blood though.
Despite her focus on Landon Wanda was still aware enough of her clones and that they were starting to lose their power and would soon fizzle out as the spell was not meant to last this long under such strain. Wanda fell back from her fight with Landon to join back with her clones each of them having managed to blast London’s team into a corner. Wanda caught up with her clones and in a blast of purple light the five clones exploded which achieved her goal of injuring his team and pinning the seven into a corner. “I may have said no powers in regards to fighting you, but that doesn’t include your team.”, Wanda cackled holding up both her hands reading a hex ball. Atif watched from the viewing area and leaned forward gripping Billy’s arm. “Is this is?”, Billy asked. Atif nodded. “This is what I see every time.”, Atif said softly. Landon came rushing over as he saw the team pinned down and Wanda ready to attack. The real Landon watched from behind a solid crate knowing that this was part of the program. He’d wanted the team to get into that corner and for his drone to make the sacrifice play. It was the ultimate mind fuck. The Landon drone stood between Wanda and his team spreading his arms out. Wanda unleashed her hex blast sending Landon to the ground unmoving. The team screamed in horror. Rose moved forward and checked Landon’s pulse. “He’s…she…she killed him.”, Rose declared. Wanda began to laugh as she had won. “At last I am rid of that pest. No longer can he interfere with my plans. And you seven would do best to stay out of my way or end up like your hero here.”, Wanda taunted in her triumph.
Atif in the control room blinked like all the others in shock at how this was playing out. “He…Landon made my vision happen…”, Atif whispered. The team in the warehouse all pulled their fallen leader away from Wanda. Cora Lee clutching to his lifeless body crying tears of anger and pain. The real Landon took a breath and stepped out from behind the crate his blades drawn. “Yo! Wanda! Killing me won’t be that easy.”, Landon shouted. Wanda froze and turned on her heels to look in utter anger. “HOW!?”, Wanda yelled looking from the Landon that appeared behind her and the one dead on the ground. Landon just smirked. “I’m a bit smarter than you gave me credit.”, Landon said taking his fighting stance. Wanda yelled in anger and shot a large hex bolt at the seven crying over the fallen Landon and they all fell to the ground in the blast. “What kind of trickery is this!? You do not have this type of power.”, Wanda demanded. “I didn’t need to have a mutation to make those real.”, Landon said pressing a button on his watch and the eight bodies disappeared. “You seem to forget I’m an X-Men and have access to tech you could only dream of having. So how about you fight the real me now. Same rules you don’t hex and I don’t change you into whatever comes to my mind. Because he..”, Landon said pointing to where the drone of him had fallen. “Was programmed to lose. I’ve been trained to win.”, Landon said. “Oh you’re smug…just like your jackass father.”, Wanda said glaring. “Oh I’m sure dad will be thrilled to know all these years you still think so highly of him. Now enough talking and bringing it.”, Landon said taking a fighting stance Logan had taught him tightening his grip on the swords. Wanda snorted. “Fine just like that fake you, you’ll die just the same. Unlike your clone there you will die alone.”, Wanda stated moving in to attack.
Landon and Wanda moved around the warehouse, Landon trying to get her to the spot he needed. Wanda’s knife clanged against his swords as he countered her attacks. As the fought there were moments that her blade got past him and she cut him but more often he was cutting her. He was getting her closer to where he needed her. He was only focused on getting her to that spot. He didn’t really want to die nor did he want to kill her. So his strikes may have been precise but he didn’t wound her deeply or go for a killing blow. Up in the viewing room the team was on the edge of their seats as they watched the pair going back and forth. Any time Wanda landed a hit Rose’s grip on her chair tightened. She could feel an itch on her knuckles and a dull pain much like she’d felt at new years when she had to stay behind the force field unable to help Landon face Wanda. “Come on Landon…get her to the trap so we can end this.”, Rose muttered as he took another hit from Wanda and her fangs started to grow out. “I can’t just sit here. I’m going down there.”, Rose said tossing the tablet to Billy as she went to get up. Cora Lee grabbed her arm. “We told Landon we would only go down if he was getting beat. He’s holding his own right now. Give my brother a little longer to get her in position.”, Cora Lee requested. Rose sighed and nodded but stayed standing. “Fine but I’m going to stand in case I need to go down there.”, Rose replied. As she started itching at her knuckles her eyes going back to watching the back and forth between Landon and Wanda.
Wanda was growing tired, she’d been in the fight longer than Landon and it was starting to show. But with his long hours of training and having sat out the first part of the fight Landon wasn’t losing stamina as quickly though he was getting a bit weaker from the cuts on his body where her knife had managed to penetrate his defense. Wanda having decided she had enough brought her left hand behind her back as she still continued to fight with her right and started to form a hex ball in her left. Rose growled as she saw the hex ball from the observation room. “That’s it I’m going down there.”, Rose said storming out of the room. Landon saw the movement above but Wanda didn’t and went to throw the hex ball. “LANDON WATCH OUT!”, Rose yelled running down the stairs. The shout was enough warning for Landon to try and get out of the way and to cause Wanda to lose her focus so her hex blast went off but not full on target. The blast grazing Landon’s left side burning his shirt and skin as it exploded into a crate. “What the hell?”, Wanda yelled looking to Rose. Landon landed on the ground his jaw clenched in pain. “So much for not using powers…”, Landon said looking down at his burned side. Rose’s eyes went side as she looked form Landon to Wanda and a deep growl resonated from her throat. “You fucking BITCH!”, Rose shouted as she rushed at Wanda and without thinking or realizing a set of three inch long bone claws popped out from between her knuckles as she pieced straight through Wanda’s left forearm. Ashley, Atif, Cora Lee, and Lily raced down the stairs. Landon blinked looking at the bone claws realizing Wanda had officially triggered the Howlett gene. He held up a hand to the others and shook his head. “Ashley water!”, Landon shouted pointing to his burn. Ashley nodded and shot a gentle stream of cold water across the warehouse onto his burn which he yelled in pain but it at least helped.
Landon wasn’t the only one screaming in pain. Wanda was howling in pain at the three claws that were currently jabbed through her left arm. “God damn Howletts!”, Wanda cursed. Landon used his dual swords to get to his feet. “Rose! Let’s finish this. Just like training except she’s in my role.”, Landon instructed raising his swords. Rose nodded pulling her claws out of Wanda’s arms. She was in complete disbelief of what had just happened. This fully proved she had to be a Howlett. Sure they weren’t as long as her dad and Uncle’s but they were a set of bone claws. Wanda stumbled back tugging her sleeve off and tying it around the three puncture wounds before taking a defensive stance. “So what now it’s two on one? I thought you liked to fight fair boy.”, Wanda taunted looking from Rose to the group on the stairs then to Landon. “Hey you’re the one that shot a hex ball at me breaking our no powers rule. So you face me and Rose or I just turn you into something comical. Either way we win.”, Landon said bringing up his swords ready to fight. “So be it. Will be even better to beat not just you by the brat of Logan’s.”, Wanda snarled. Landon glanced to Rose who took her stance ready to attack. Landon gave the nod and the two flanked Wanda attacking with intent to push her back in the direction of the trap. Landon needed this to end quickly his side was throbbing with pain and he could only ignore that pain for so long. They kept Wanda on the defense the whole time, Wanda having loss the general use of her left arm. Finally they got Wanda in the right spot and not wasting a second of time Billy hit the button on the tablet and the floor started to change under Wanda. Landon stumbled back falling down dropping his swords and wanting to hold his side but knowing that was a bad idea. Rose stepped back and knelt down next to him keeping her eyes on Wanda as the floor rose up and surrounded Wanda sealing her in the cell. “What the hell is going on!?”, Wanda yelled from inside. She tried to use a hex blast but it wouldn’t generate. “Welcome to a mini cage just for you. You get to know what it felt like for Logan and the others you took hostage to be locked in a small box unable to use your powers.”, Landon said.

Rose took a few breaths and looked away from the cage to Landon. “Well it’s official you are armed and dangerous like your siblings.”, Landon teased. Rose smiled and looked at the claws. “So um how do I get them to go back?”, Rose wondered. “Try calming down.”, Landon suggested. “Hey Ashley can I get more water please!?”, Landon called wincing in pain his mind no longer able to focus on anything but the pain. Rose took a couple breaths as Ashley ran down the stairs and started to let her water run over Landon’s burned side. Rose’s claws slipped back between her knuckles and she started look at Landon’s burn. “We need to get you to the Hamilton Clinic. TOMMY!”, Rose shouted. “Tommy? Wait he’s really here?”, Wanda questioned peering through the bars of the cell she was trapped in. She watched as Tommy zoomed down the stairs his brother running down after him. “Yes Rose?”, Tommy asked stopping next to her. “I need you to play ambulance. Very and I mean very carefully pick up Landon and then get him to the Hamilton Medical Center. Both Kisa and Mikali should be on duty since Bianca is covering the infirmary. Have one of them look at Landon and get the other to come back with you. I got your mom rather bad and she may be a bitch but we aren’t going to let her bleed out.”, Rose instructed. Tommy started to pick up Landon from the ground. “Wait. I can’t go yet. I need to call this is. To explain to Duncan what’s happened.”, Landon protested. “I’ll explain to Duncan Landon. You had to face him when you saved my dad so I’ll deal with him this time. Now go Tommy.”, Rose ordered. Tommy nodded and in a blur was gone.
The others all slumped down onto the floor with Rose as she dug out her communicator and made a call to Duncan. “Professor Fearbhirigh. We need you to come to the docks. We’ve got a little surprise for you.”, Rose said. “Why am I terrified of what I’m going to find. But I’ll be there shortly. “, Duncan said grabbing his keys and starting for his car. “Duncan where are you going?”, Lindee inquired of her husband as she saw him walk past. “Apparently to the docks. My team leaders have done something…again. They just can’t stay out of trouble.”, Duncan explained. Lindee laughed shaking her head. “Go easy on them Duncan. They are young. If I recall stories you lead a underground army in Scotland in your youth. I’m sure you did lots of stupid and dangerous things at their age.”, Lindee requested. Duncan sighed and kissed her forehead. “I’ll try and not yell…too much. I’ll be back shortly Lindee.”, Duncan said before heading out for his car and heading in the direction of the docks where Rose had instructed him to. While Duncan was heading to the docks Tommy arrived at the Hamilton Medical Center and skidded to a stop setting Landon down to help him inside the building. “Thanks for the quick evac. Though wow going that fast is nauseating.”, Landon staid covering his mouth his face a slight shade of green as he tried to not vomit. Tommy chuckled as they walked inside. “It takes some getting used to. Lily threw up the first time I took her for a run.”, Tommy said.
“Uncle Mikali? Kisa? We have an emergency.”, Landon called into the Medical Center. There were some patience sitting along the wall waiting to see the doctors who look and blinked at Landon and Tommy. One mother covering her daughter’s eyes and looking away the sight of Landon’s burns being rather upsetting to the eyes. Mikali and Kisa heard Landon calling and actually say ‘emergency’ and both rushed from the rooms where they were giving exams to their regular patience. “Holy…”, Mikali started and censored himself remembering there were small children in the clinic that day. “I’ll see to Landon. Kisa you can keep with our regular patience.”, Mikali instructed taking over helping Landon from Tommy. “Um actually sir. Rose requested I bring one of you back to the docks. Landon’s not the only injury but the only one that I was willing to carry here.”, Tommy explained. Kisa raised an eyebrow looking at Tommy then to Mikali. “It’s Institute business.”, Landon stated being as discrete as he could with mixed company. Kisa nodded and turned to her patients in the waiting room. “I apologize but it will be a tad longer wait to be seen as there are a couple medical emergencies that myself and Doctor Hamilton must attend to. If you wish we can reschedule your check ups. Blaire can reschedule you if you want.”, Kisa said looking around for Blaire.
Blaire walked out of the break room her phone in hand as she was texting with Tristan during her lunch break. She stopped and blinked seeing Landon with a burn. “Holy…”, Blaire started but censored herself seeing the young child. “Blaire Mikali is tending to this emergency and I’m needed for another emergency on location. Please help our patience with rescheduling their visits.”, Kisa instructed. Blaire nodded. “Of course Doctor Kearney.”, Blaire nodded moving to her desk at the reception pulling out the schedule. Mikali helped Landon to an exam room while Kisa walked out with Tommy. “So I hope you don’t get motion sickness Misses Kearney.”, Tommy said as he picked up the petite woman and in a flash was gone. Blaire quickly texted Tristan, ‘I’ll be back in a moment. Landon just walked in with what looked like a serious burn and Tommy Maximoff just took Dr Kearney to some on site emergency.’. Blaire smiled to the patients left in the waiting room and got them set up with new appointments before going and letting know the patients that had been in the middle of their visits that the doctors had to go and handle medical emergencies and offered to reschedule. Tristan several states away read the text confused and quickly replied, ‘Wait what? Landon’s burned and Tommy brought him in? I thought Landon was in dog house with the others including Tommy. Let me know what’s up when you can gorgeous.’ Blaire hovered around the exam room Mikali was in with Landon. “Anything I can help with Doctor Hamilton?”, Blaire asked. “No we should be alright Blaire. Just stay out in the reception in case more patients show up.”, Mikali instructed. Blaire nodded and went back to the front.
Mikali cut the rest of Landon’s shirt off to properly look at the burn and his various cuts and bruises. “Want to tell me what the hell happened?”, Mikali asked as he placed his glowing hands onto Landon’s arm letting the healing effect pass from his hands to Landon’s body. The cuts and cruises disappeared and slowly the burn started to disappear as if it never happened. “I took on Wanda.”, Landon explained. “You did what!?”, Mikali exclaimed. “BLAIRE CALL LANDON’S PARENTS FOR ME AND TELL THEM TO GET HERE!”, Mikali shouted to Blaire. “Yes Doctor Hamilton.”, Blaire called back before picking up the phone and called the Haven. “Hi Misses Bryant? This is Blaire Delaney calling from the Hamilton Medical Center. Mister Hamilton wants you and Mister Bryant to come to the clinic. Landon was just admitted with a severe burn.”, Blaire explained. “We…we will be right there.”, Aislinn said hanging up grabbing David heading for the car. “Where are we going?”, David asked as he was being taken to the car. “Drive to the medical center. Landon just got admitted with a burn.”, Aislinn instructed getting into the passenger seat. David nodded and got in driving away quickly. “I had to take her on a final time Uncle Mikali.”, Landon argued. “How about you save the explanation for your parents. Where the others involved? Who else was injured? Because Tommy took Kisa to some onsite emergency.”, Mikali asked. “The others are there, but none are hurt. Kisa is going because Rose hurt Wanda rather badly after she hit me with the hex that resulted in the burn.”, Landon answered. “But I’ll wait for mom and dad to explain it all. Think I’m going to just lay here for a bit.”, Landon said closing his eyes resting from the fight.
Duncan arrived at the docs at the same time that Tommy skidded to a stop holding Kisa. He sat her back down and Kisa threw up. “I don’t get motion sickness but apparently traveling at speed of light I do.”, Kisa admitted. She looked up and saw Duncan. “Duncan?”, she questioned. “Kisa? Thomas?”, Duncan questioned. “Come on Misses Kearney this way.”, Tommy said grabbing her arm leading her into the warehouse. The kids were all sitting on the floor outside the cell. Wanda having given up on yelling for them to let her out. “Landon is safe with Mikali getting healed. I’ve brought Kisa and grumpy is right behind us.”, Tommy said sitting down on the floor with Lily. Kisa looked over the kids looking for any injuries, “Thomas said there was someone injured. I don’t see even a scratch on you kids. So who am I here for?”, Kisa asked. Rose stood up and banged on the door of the cell. “Put just your left arm out through the bars and don’t think of trying anything funny because I will cut the damn thing off.”, Rose ordered. Wanda glared as she approached the door and stuck her bleeding left arm out the cell the piece of fabric having soaked up a lot of blood. Kisa took a step back seeing Wanda. “What the hell is going on?”, Kisa asked. “That’s a very good question Kisa. So who explaining this to me since Landon isn’t here. As I heard from Thomas he’s at the clinic with Mikali for healing.”, Duncan’s thick Scottish voice filled the room. Rose raised her hand. “I’ll be explaining this sir. Misses Kearney if you could please just see to the prisoner. We show our prisoners more care than she did.”, Rose said. Kisa nodded and grabbed Wanda’s wrist. “You do understand I’m only healing your wound because I made a hippocratic oath when I became a doctor. Otherwise the tiger side of me would like to just rip your arm off for what you did to my friends and what your…I don’t even know what to call Pryo to you…did to my twin.”, Kisa said glaring actual hate in her honey eyes. Wanda snorted and just watched as Kisa laid a healing hand on her and she felt the bleeding stop and the pain in her arm go away. Kisa pulled away the blood stained fabric just in time to see the three holes close. She noticed their size and distance and looked to the kids stepping away from the cell wondering who put those holes in Wanda’s arm.
Duncan folded his arms across his chest and looked to Rose. “So start explaining, Roselyn.”, Duncan requested. Rose sighed hating when she was called Roselyn by most people. “I’ll start at the beginning then. Way back like three years ago now, Atif told Landon about a vision he head. The vision was of Landon’s death. He was hit by a purple light and was dead. The two of them kept that from the rest of us.”, Rose started glancing at Atif before looking back to Duncan. “At new years before we fought Wanda Atif saw a more clearer vision and knew it was Wanda that was intended to kill Landon with her hex ball. We fought her without Landon saying a word about the vision. As you know my dad saved him that night. However the vision didn’t go away. Landon chose to start training with my dad to get ready for when the fight with Wanda would happen. He didn’t tell any of us why he was training with my dad. At the party he received a card from Wanda threatening him indirectly saying that this would be the last birthday he saw. He finally clued us in on what was going on. He got Forge to make the MDR that we are standing in, we all faked being made at him for the most part this summer so she’d think he was alone in facing her, we trained all summer to be part of the program this MDR runs. Landon didn’t want any of us to actually fight her so he figured it was safer to have drones fight instead. Till she killed the drone of him and then our drones. Then Landon took her on himself and was doing good till she decided to go against her agreement of no powers and hit him with a hex ball. I got involved and well I don’t know what really happened. I was just filled with such rage that she hurt Landon. And my claws popped from between my knuckles and I stabbed her arm.”, Rose continued to explained. “That explains why those punctures looks familiar, Howlett claws.”, Kisa commented. Rose nodded. “Then Landon and I fought her till we got her to the spot where the trap was set. The cage formed around her and she’s been in there ever sense. The cage has an inhibitor so she can’t use her powers. Then I called you and sent Tommy to take Landon to be healed and bring someone here to heal Wanda. Did I miss anything?”, Rose finished looking to the group wondering if she left anything out.
“How about what makes you think you students should go after the head of the Academy? I understood when it was a rescue mission to bring your dad back. But a vision isn’t really much cause to take her on again. And the threat could have been brought to me or the property local authorities like Azriel or Colby to be addressed.”, Duncan questioned. Ashley took the tablet from Billy and pulled up the video from the fight. “How about because Landon got her to admit to all the atrocities she committed back before most of us were born? I mean I don’t know what the stature of limitations is on murder and treason, since she did take over the United States Government from her own sister to pull off what she did, but as X-Men it’s our jobs to keep psycho dangerous mutants like her off the streets.”, Ashley said playing the video long enough for Wanda’s confession. Duncan sighed. “But now the Academy is going to retaliate.”, Duncan said. The kids all shook their heads. “No they aren’t sir. We know for a fact that the Academy did not support Wanda in her effort to kill Landon. They weren’t going to back her win or lose today. In fact she’s not even in charge anymore, Azazel is.”, Billy explained. “So we trade the witch for the devil? I’m not sure how I fell about that. I also don’t know how I fell that Logan and Forge helped in the endeavor and told me nothing.”, Duncan said taking out his phone and first calling Logan. “Logan?”, Duncan greeted. “Hi Duncan. What do you want? I’m about to open the pub.”, Logan answered. “Why did you not tell me you were training Landon Bryant to fight Wanda Maximoff? I didn’t authorize this mission or that training.”, Duncan demanded. “Didn’t think it was any of your business. Landon was told about this death and chose to face it, that’s kind of his choice. And since I’m retired, or did you forget you wouldn’t reinstatement me, I figure I don’t report you BOY. Now I have one question or you. Did he win?”, Logan said his tone conveyed his annoyance with Duncan. “He captured Wanda, and was sent to Mikali for emergency healing as a result.”, Duncan said. “So he won. I knew he would. Bye Duncan.”, Logan said hanging up on him. Rose and the kids all heard Logan, because he was being loud on purpose, covered their mouths to muffle laughter at how Logan spoke to Duncan. Even Kisa tried to not laugh.
Duncan shook his head and next called Forge. “Forge?”, Duncan greeted. “Um Yes what’s going on?”, Forge asked half awake having falling asleep after working all night on an invention he’d dreamed up. “At what point did you start taking orders from students? Last I knew you were part of my team and therefore all missions and tech needed for said missions need my approval.”, Duncan said agitated. Forge yawned. “I’m guessing Landon trapped Wanda with my hand dandy MDR. Glad it worked for him. Smart kid that one. And I don’t take orders from anyone, respectfully. Landon came to me for help. I was training with the team on the sly, training with Logan, Rose and Rachel otherwise and helping Forge building a mobile danger room to trap Wanda with.”, Landon explained. She and I fought for a while. I’d told the others to stay in the observation room unless it looked like I needed help. Well Wanda decided to break our truce of no powers and was forming a hex ball behind her back. Rose came running down and yelled to me. It startled Wanda and gave me time to try and dodge. From there Rose and I tag teamed fighting Wanda will we go here lined up for the trap. Billy or Tommy triggered the trap. Rose told Tommy to bring me here while she was going to debrief Duncan on everything. So to summarize. Wanda is in a cell that uses an inhibitor so she can’t use her powers, let her see how it feels, Rose’s claws popped and I won so I’m pretty sure Atif’s vision of me dying is over. Though till I see him and he can check I don’t know for sure.”, Landon finished. “Just promise me something Landon.”, Aislinn said. “What mom?”, Landon asked. “No more near death situations! I know you are going to be an X-Men and it’s the risk but please stop taking those risks when not sent out on a mission.”, Aislinn asked. Out in the lobby there was a lot of commotion. Blaire went out front and saw everyone. “Hey guys. Congrats of caging that bitch. Atif pulled back from the hug smiling brightly. “And? What do you see?”, Landon asked. “Columbia University sweatshirt.”, Atif said still grinning. Cora Lee coughed a little at how long Rose and Landon were holding the hug. Rose and Landon laughed bashfully letting the hug go. “Just wait till your family hears you popped claws. I dunno something about Wanda throwing that hex ball at you I just saw red.”, Rose said with a shrug. “Well I appreciate that. Shit where’s my phone.”, Landon said starting to search his pockets to find his cell. He found it pulling it out. “Who are you calling?”, Rose asked. “Um…Rachel. She was part of all this too and you know she was worried about all of us. And figured we call her before Blaire does.”, Landon explained as he hit the speed dial for Rachel and put her on speaker. Mikali looked to David and rolled his eyes. David shrugged staying silent on this. “Landon?”, Rachel answered as he came up on her caller id. “Hey Rach.”, Landon greeted. “Hey Rach? You go off to fight Miss Maximoff in a fight Atif saw you die in and I get ‘Hey Rach’? At least you aren’t dead. How is everyone else?”, Rachel questioned exasperated a little with Landon. Landon laughed. “Yes I’m not dead. And everyone tell Rach how you are.”, Landon said. “We’re fine Rachel!”, The group shouted. Rachel sighed in relief. “Where are you guys?”, Rachel asked. “The Hamilton Medical Center. Wanted to call you before Blaire did since she’s on staff today.”, Landon explained. “Wait why are you at the medical center? Who was injured?”, Rachel asked now getting worried. “Just me. Rose had my back, she popped claws and stabbed Wanda in the arm and helped me get Wanda into the trap then Tommy rushed me here and Uncle Mikali took care of my wound.”, Landon explained with a smile looking at Rose. “YOUR CLAWS POPPED ROSE!? That’s fantastic! Dad and Uncle James will be so thrilled.”, Rachel exclaimed. Rose laughed. “Yeah apparently took some major rage to get them out. They aren’t as long as dad or Uncle John’s, but that doesn’t matter.”, Rose answered. “So Wanda’s in custody. The vision is gone? Word of Wanda’s capture quickly spread amongst the Institute and many of the original members, those who she’d directly hurt felt a sense of relief that at last she was going to pay for her crimes against them and for all the lives she took those years ago. And because she was taken down by Landon and Rose, being the two that actually fought her, the two were becoming a bit more famous amongst the younger students than they already were. But like many things the word also managed to reach the Academy as they received confirmation that Wanda failed and was now in the custody of the X-Men. Which after confirmation was received Azazel called for an Academy meeting, of everyone. So they all gathered in the large reception room of the school. “Thank you all for coming. I know that many of you, especially some of the younger students have been wondering what has been going on recently. I am here to put all the rumors and concerns to rest.”, Azazel said standing in front of everyone. “Today our former headmistress Wanda Maximoff chose to go rogue and face the X-Men Student Leader Landon Bryant. This action was not backed by her fellow Acolytes as we all agreed that singling one student out was not in the best interest of the Academy and our goals. She was told that if she went forward with her plans to face this boy win or lose she would receive no backing from the Academy. It has been confirmed that she did in fact lose her battle against Landon. Presently she is now the prisoner of the X-Men. It has been agreed by all the Acolytes that going forward I will be the headmaster.”, Azazel explained.
Talia smiled as it was finally confirmed that now her father was in charge. “Serves Wanda right, being so stupid.”, Talia muttered. Malcolm rolled his eyes. “We will not retaliate nor make any effort to retrieve Wanda. Any Academy student or staff that makes an attempt against the X-men to retrieve Wanda will be punished by me personally. Other than the loss of Wanda as part of our staff there will be no other changes to our staff. I have been assured that John, Vin, and Lorna all intend to remain on staff here. We will continue on as normal with classes and training. Please continue on with your day as normal as this concludes our meeting.”, Azazel said dismissing the group. Malcolm took a breath and moved through the crowd of students to his family. “Mom, dad, Kevin and Larissa I need to talk to you. I had wanted to wait to talk to you about this. But I don’t think I want to wait any longer.”, Malcolm addressed his family. Larissa frowned knowing what was coming but her brother and parents looked a little confused. Malcolm ushered them into a separate room closing the door behind him. “What’s wrong Zeus?”, Vin questioned his son. “I’m going to just come right out and say this. I’m leaving the Academy.”, Malcolm stated. Kevin blinked. “But what? Malcolm why would you leave? I mean you’ve recently been stepping up Azazel would probably let you take the leader role in regards to the students. Malcolm sighed and placed a hand on his little brother’s shoulder. “Kevin I can’t stay with the Academy. It’s not my believes and I can’t pretend it is. I don’t want to fight anyone. I plan to move to the Haven with our cousins along with Merrick and Sebastian.”, Malcolm explained. His family still looked at him worried and confused. “Please don’t worry about me. I’m not going to be labeled a traitor and you will not be treated any different here at the Academy.”, Malcolm assured. “How can you be so sure?”, Lorna asked. “Because mom when I helped Azazel come to power that was the deal. I make sure Aunt Wanda is no longer leader and he takes her place in return I am free to leave the Academy and you along with Uncle John and Tyler are to be treated no differently than before.”, Malcolm explained. Lorna blinked and looked to Vin then looked worried at Malcolm. “You? You purposely helped to make sure Wanda lost her title and put Azazel in her place? Why? How?”, Lorna questioned. “I have been helping Landon and the others for months now. I knew Aunt Wanda wanted to end his life and I couldn’t let that happen. So I made sure that her decision wasn’t supported and then knowing she’d be facing him alone I made my deal with Azazel to put him in the leader role to ensure that I could walk away and you would all be safe. Because as long as Aunt Wanda was in power and wanted Landon dead I couldn’t leave the Academy. You wouldn’t have been safe.”, Malcolm explained. “You aren’t making sense son. What stake do you have in the Bryant boy?”, Vin inquired. Malcolm sighed and took a deep breath. “He’s Cora Lee’s big brother, and well would be kind of a shitty move to let my Aunt kill my girlfriend’s brother.”, Malcolm explained.

Malcolm rolled his eyes and ruffled his brother’s shaggy brown hair. “Give it a couple years Kevin girls won’t be gross anymore. And yes Cora Lee is my girlfriend. We’ve been dating since December. Just keeping our relationship a secret from basically everyone. Last night the twins brought me to be introduced as the spy to Landon and the others. And well that’s when their team become aware of my relationship and how involved Cora Lee and I are.”, Malcolm explained. Vin chuckled shaking his head. “Involved? And you want to go live at the house her father runs?”, Vin questioned. Malcolm smiled and shrugged. “Worth the risk if it means I can date her publically. However since I’ll be sharing a room again she won’t get to sneak in like she was here. Where there’s a will there’s a way after all.”, Malcolm said. Kevin rolled his eyes. “Again GROSS.”, Kevin stated. “I just hope you are being safe. And just be mindful of Crow. Don’t get on his bad side. Listen to Kim while you are living there. Just like when you were little, if I’m not there to keep you in line you will listen o Kim and follow her instructions as if they were mine.”, Lorna said hugging her son. “Of course we are being safe. “Alright guys there’s eight of us and only six of her. Twins pair up with your siblings and watch each other’s back and take on one each. Otherwise the rest of us each take a ‘dance partner’, but the real Wanda is mine.”, Landon said giving the orders. The team nodded Atif moving to make sure he was with his sister getting his force field up to give protection. Billy and Tommy stayed together Billy’s hands starting to glow purple. Wanda laughed at the children as her and her duplicates started their attack. One Wanda shot a hex at Ashley and Atif, but it bounced back hitting her sending her flying into the wall. Ashley and Atif took the offensive state and moved forward Ashley spraying out solid jets of water keeping the duplicate pinned down. Another of the duplicates went after the Maximoff twins. She missed cutting Tommy as he was too quick, however she did get Billy in his left arm. Billy yelled in pain and brought up his right hand and punched her with a hex blast sending her stumbling back. Billy tore his shirt and wrapped the cut as Tommy started to running circles around the clone of their mother to keep her pinned down as the air was being siphoned out of the tunnel Tommy was creating.
Lily glared at her duplicate and held out her hands raising two of the heavy crates into the air. “I’ve waited a long time to finally take you down a notch Wanda. Always thought you were too stuck up of a bitch.”, Lily said letting a crate fly the duplicate ducking and just getting grazed. “You’ll pay for that you little traitor!”, The clone shouted starting to fire hex blasts at Lily. Lily used the other crate as a shield till it had splintered apart completely then switched to just hand to hand rushing and tackling Wanda into another crate smashing through it. The pair exchanging blows and Lily not seeming to care that she was bleeding wanting to just pummel this duplicate so she could move on to help her cousin with the real thing. Rose growled circling the Wanda that was to be her opponent letting her fangs out and her nails grow into claws. “Look a Howlett without claws. How sad for you to be the only one without a set of your own.”, the clone taunted. Rose lunged forward slashing at Wanda’s face leaving four deep marks across her face. “The claws I have work just as well as my dad’s do.”, Rose snarled. The Wanda she was facing shot her blindly with a bolt that sent Rose crashing into a crate but she stood back up pulling splinters from her arms her body healing easily. Wanda narrowed her eyes. “Howlett healing…”, Wanda grumbled as she continued to take the offensive and started throwing more hex balls at Rose who kept coming at her wanting her combat to be up close and a tad more personal. Rose’s tactic forced Wanda to change hers and move to the defensive as she was now drawn into hand to hand combat having her knife as her weapon.
Cora Lee held up a hand taking the knife away from her Wanda and turned it into a small ball shaking her head. “No knives today bitch.”, Cora Lee taunted before moving into to take Wanda one. Even in hand to hand Wanda was older and more skilled than Cora Lee hitting more of her blows that Cora Lee was hitting her. However this didn’t deter Cora Lee who just kept coming at Wanda with renewed anger after each hit. The two continued to exchange blows. The Wanda looked like she was about to get off a hex ball at Cora Lee but instead actually aimed and hit Tommy knocking him to the ground freeing the duplicate he was keeping detained. That duplicate was quick to dive at Billy the pair rolling on the ground exchanging blows. And as the others handled the duplicates Landon and the real Wanda were circling each other. Landon keeping his tight grip on his dual blades as Wanda held her knife. “I apparently underestimated you boy. It won’t happen again.”, Wanda declared. Landon smirked. “You’re right it won’t because you are going to LOSE.”, Landon said. “And to give you a fighting chance though I won’t use my powers if you don’t.”, Landon said. Wanda snorted. “Fine I’ll kill you with either my knife or my bare hands it’ll make for a better story.”, Wanda said moving to lunge at him. Months of training with Logan Landon was prepared and was able to counter the strike and the two moved about the warehouse fighting exchanging glancing blows. Landon drawing first blood though.
Despite her focus on Landon Wanda was still aware enough of her clones and that they were starting to lose their power and would soon fizzle out as the spell was not meant to last this long under such strain. Wanda fell back from her fight with Landon to join back with her clones each of them having managed to blast London’s team into a corner. Wanda caught up with her clones and in a blast of purple light the five clones exploded which achieved her goal of injuring his team and pinning the seven into a corner. “I may have said no powers in regards to fighting you, but that doesn’t include your team.”, Wanda cackled holding up both her hands reading a hex ball. Atif watched from the viewing area and leaned forward gripping Billy’s arm. “Is this is?”, Billy asked. Atif nodded. “This is what I see every time.”, Atif said softly. Landon came rushing over as he saw the team pinned down and Wanda ready to attack. The real Landon watched from behind a solid crate knowing that this was part of the program. He’d wanted the team to get into that corner and for his drone to make the sacrifice play. It was the ultimate mind fuck. The Landon drone stood between Wanda and his team spreading his arms out. Wanda unleashed her hex blast sending Landon to the ground unmoving. The team screamed in horror. Rose moved forward and checked Landon’s pulse. “He’s…she…she killed him.”, Rose declared. Wanda began to laugh as she had won. “At last I am rid of that pest. No longer can he interfere with my plans. And you seven would do best to stay out of my way or end up like your hero here.”, Wanda taunted in her triumph.
Atif in the control room blinked like all the others in shock at how this was playing out. “He…Landon made my vision happen…”, Atif whispered. The team in the warehouse all pulled their fallen leader away from Wanda. Cora Lee clutching to his lifeless body crying tears of anger and pain. The real Landon took a breath and stepped out from behind the crate his blades drawn. “Yo! Wanda! Killing me won’t be that easy.”, Landon shouted. Wanda froze and turned on her heels to look in utter anger. “HOW!?”, Wanda yelled looking from the Landon that appeared behind her and the one dead on the ground. Landon just smirked. “I’m a bit smarter than you gave me credit.”, Landon said taking his fighting stance. Wanda yelled in anger and shot a large hex bolt at the seven crying over the fallen Landon and they all fell to the ground in the blast. “What kind of trickery is this!? You do not have this type of power.”, Wanda demanded. “I didn’t need to have a mutation to make those real.”, Landon said pressing a button on his watch and the eight bodies disappeared. “You seem to forget I’m an X-Men and have access to tech you could only dream of having. So how about you fight the real me now. Same rules you don’t hex and I don’t change you into whatever comes to my mind. Because he..”, Landon said pointing to where the drone of him had fallen. “Was programmed to lose. I’ve been trained to win.”, Landon said. “Oh you’re smug…just like your jackass father.”, Wanda said glaring. “Oh I’m sure dad will be thrilled to know all these years you still think so highly of him. Now enough talking and bringing it.”, Landon said taking a fighting stance Logan had taught him tightening his grip on the swords. Wanda snorted. “Fine just like that fake you, you’ll die just the same. Unlike your clone there you will die alone.”, Wanda stated moving in to attack.
Landon and Wanda moved around the warehouse, Landon trying to get her to the spot he needed. Wanda’s knife clanged against his swords as he countered her attacks. As the fought there were moments that her blade got past him and she cut him but more often he was cutting her. He was getting her closer to where he needed her. He was only focused on getting her to that spot. He didn’t really want to die nor did he want to kill her. So his strikes may have been precise but he didn’t wound her deeply or go for a killing blow. Up in the viewing room the team was on the edge of their seats as they watched the pair going back and forth. Any time Wanda landed a hit Rose’s grip on her chair tightened. She could feel an itch on her knuckles and a dull pain much like she’d felt at new years when she had to stay behind the force field unable to help Landon face Wanda. “Come on Landon…get her to the trap so we can end this.”, Rose muttered as he took another hit from Wanda and her fangs started to grow out. “I can’t just sit here. I’m going down there.”, Rose said tossing the tablet to Billy as she went to get up. Cora Lee grabbed her arm. “We told Landon we would only go down if he was getting beat. He’s holding his own right now. Give my brother a little longer to get her in position.”, Cora Lee requested. Rose sighed and nodded but stayed standing. “Fine but I’m going to stand in case I need to go down there.”, Rose replied. As she started itching at her knuckles her eyes going back to watching the back and forth between Landon and Wanda.
Wanda was growing tired, she’d been in the fight longer than Landon and it was starting to show. But with his long hours of training and having sat out the first part of the fight Landon wasn’t losing stamina as quickly though he was getting a bit weaker from the cuts on his body where her knife had managed to penetrate his defense. Wanda having decided she had enough brought her left hand behind her back as she still continued to fight with her right and started to form a hex ball in her left. Rose growled as she saw the hex ball from the observation room. “That’s it I’m going down there.”, Rose said storming out of the room. Landon saw the movement above but Wanda didn’t and went to throw the hex ball. “LANDON WATCH OUT!”, Rose yelled running down the stairs. The shout was enough warning for Landon to try and get out of the way and to cause Wanda to lose her focus so her hex blast went off but not full on target. The blast grazing Landon’s left side burning his shirt and skin as it exploded into a crate. “What the hell?”, Wanda yelled looking to Rose. Landon landed on the ground his jaw clenched in pain. “So much for not using powers…”, Landon said looking down at his burned side. Rose’s eyes went side as she looked form Landon to Wanda and a deep growl resonated from her throat. “You fucking BITCH!”, Rose shouted as she rushed at Wanda and without thinking or realizing a set of three inch long bone claws popped out from between her knuckles as she pieced straight through Wanda’s left forearm. Ashley, Atif, Cora Lee, and Lily raced down the stairs. Landon blinked looking at the bone claws realizing Wanda had officially triggered the Howlett gene. He held up a hand to the others and shook his head. “Ashley water!”, Landon shouted pointing to his burn. Ashley nodded and shot a gentle stream of cold water across the warehouse onto his burn which he yelled in pain but it at least helped.
Landon wasn’t the only one screaming in pain. Wanda was howling in pain at the three claws that were currently jabbed through her left arm. “God damn Howletts!”, Wanda cursed. Landon used his dual swords to get to his feet. “Rose! Let’s finish this. Just like training except she’s in my role.”, Landon instructed raising his swords. Rose nodded pulling her claws out of Wanda’s arms. She was in complete disbelief of what had just happened. This fully proved she had to be a Howlett. Sure they weren’t as long as her dad and Uncle’s but they were a set of bone claws. Wanda stumbled back tugging her sleeve off and tying it around the three puncture wounds before taking a defensive stance. “So what now it’s two on one? I thought you liked to fight fair boy.”, Wanda taunted looking from Rose to the group on the stairs then to Landon. “Hey you’re the one that shot a hex ball at me breaking our no powers rule. So you face me and Rose or I just turn you into something comical. Either way we win.”, Landon said bringing up his swords ready to fight. “So be it. Will be even better to beat not just you by the brat of Logan’s.”, Wanda snarled. Landon glanced to Rose who took her stance ready to attack. Landon gave the nod and the two flanked Wanda attacking with intent to push her back in the direction of the trap. Landon needed this to end quickly his side was throbbing with pain and he could only ignore that pain for so long. They kept Wanda on the defense the whole time, Wanda having loss the general use of her left arm. Finally they got Wanda in the right spot and not wasting a second of time Billy hit the button on the tablet and the floor started to change under Wanda. Landon stumbled back falling down dropping his swords and wanting to hold his side but knowing that was a bad idea. Rose stepped back and knelt down next to him keeping her eyes on Wanda as the floor rose up and surrounded Wanda sealing her in the cell. “What the hell is going on!?”, Wanda yelled from inside. She tried to use a hex blast but it wouldn’t generate. “Welcome to a mini cage just for you. You get to know what it felt like for Logan and the others you took hostage to be locked in a small box unable to use your powers.”, Landon said.

Rose took a few breaths and looked away from the cage to Landon. “Well it’s official you are armed and dangerous like your siblings.”, Landon teased. Rose smiled and looked at the claws. “So um how do I get them to go back?”, Rose wondered. “Try calming down.”, Landon suggested. “Hey Ashley can I get more water please!?”, Landon called wincing in pain his mind no longer able to focus on anything but the pain. Rose took a couple breaths as Ashley ran down the stairs and started to let her water run over Landon’s burned side. Rose’s claws slipped back between her knuckles and she started look at Landon’s burn. “We need to get you to the Hamilton Clinic. TOMMY!”, Rose shouted. “Tommy? Wait he’s really here?”, Wanda questioned peering through the bars of the cell she was trapped in. She watched as Tommy zoomed down the stairs his brother running down after him. “Yes Rose?”, Tommy asked stopping next to her. “I need you to play ambulance. Very and I mean very carefully pick up Landon and then get him to the Hamilton Medical Center. Both Kisa and Mikali should be on duty since Bianca is covering the infirmary. Have one of them look at Landon and get the other to come back with you. I got your mom rather bad and she may be a bitch but we aren’t going to let her bleed out.”, Rose instructed. Tommy started to pick up Landon from the ground. “Wait. I can’t go yet. I need to call this is. To explain to Duncan what’s happened.”, Landon protested. “I’ll explain to Duncan Landon. You had to face him when you saved my dad so I’ll deal with him this time. Now go Tommy.”, Rose ordered. Tommy nodded and in a blur was gone.
The others all slumped down onto the floor with Rose as she dug out her communicator and made a call to Duncan. “Professor Fearbhirigh. We need you to come to the docks. We’ve got a little surprise for you.”, Rose said. “Why am I terrified of what I’m going to find. But I’ll be there shortly. “, Duncan said grabbing his keys and starting for his car. “Duncan where are you going?”, Lindee inquired of her husband as she saw him walk past. “Apparently to the docks. My team leaders have done something…again. They just can’t stay out of trouble.”, Duncan explained. Lindee laughed shaking her head. “Go easy on them Duncan. They are young. If I recall stories you lead a underground army in Scotland in your youth. I’m sure you did lots of stupid and dangerous things at their age.”, Lindee requested. Duncan sighed and kissed her forehead. “I’ll try and not yell…too much. I’ll be back shortly Lindee.”, Duncan said before heading out for his car and heading in the direction of the docks where Rose had instructed him to. While Duncan was heading to the docks Tommy arrived at the Hamilton Medical Center and skidded to a stop setting Landon down to help him inside the building. “Thanks for the quick evac. Though wow going that fast is nauseating.”, Landon staid covering his mouth his face a slight shade of green as he tried to not vomit. Tommy chuckled as they walked inside. “It takes some getting used to. Lily threw up the first time I took her for a run.”, Tommy said.
“Uncle Mikali? Kisa? We have an emergency.”, Landon called into the Medical Center. There were some patience sitting along the wall waiting to see the doctors who look and blinked at Landon and Tommy. One mother covering her daughter’s eyes and looking away the sight of Landon’s burns being rather upsetting to the eyes. Mikali and Kisa heard Landon calling and actually say ‘emergency’ and both rushed from the rooms where they were giving exams to their regular patience. “Holy…”, Mikali started and censored himself remembering there were small children in the clinic that day. “I’ll see to Landon. Kisa you can keep with our regular patience.”, Mikali instructed taking over helping Landon from Tommy. “Um actually sir. Rose requested I bring one of you back to the docks. Landon’s not the only injury but the only one that I was willing to carry here.”, Tommy explained. Kisa raised an eyebrow looking at Tommy then to Mikali. “It’s Institute business.”, Landon stated being as discrete as he could with mixed company. Kisa nodded and turned to her patients in the waiting room. “I apologize but it will be a tad longer wait to be seen as there are a couple medical emergencies that myself and Doctor Hamilton must attend to. If you wish we can reschedule your check ups. Blaire can reschedule you if you want.”, Kisa said looking around for Blaire.
Blaire walked out of the break room her phone in hand as she was texting with Tristan during her lunch break. She stopped and blinked seeing Landon with a burn. “Holy…”, Blaire started but censored herself seeing the young child. “Blaire Mikali is tending to this emergency and I’m needed for another emergency on location. Please help our patience with rescheduling their visits.”, Kisa instructed. Blaire nodded. “Of course Doctor Kearney.”, Blaire nodded moving to her desk at the reception pulling out the schedule. Mikali helped Landon to an exam room while Kisa walked out with Tommy. “So I hope you don’t get motion sickness Misses Kearney.”, Tommy said as he picked up the petite woman and in a flash was gone. Blaire quickly texted Tristan, ‘I’ll be back in a moment. Landon just walked in with what looked like a serious burn and Tommy Maximoff just took Dr Kearney to some on site emergency.’. Blaire smiled to the patients left in the waiting room and got them set up with new appointments before going and letting know the patients that had been in the middle of their visits that the doctors had to go and handle medical emergencies and offered to reschedule. Tristan several states away read the text confused and quickly replied, ‘Wait what? Landon’s burned and Tommy brought him in? I thought Landon was in dog house with the others including Tommy. Let me know what’s up when you can gorgeous.’ Blaire hovered around the exam room Mikali was in with Landon. “Anything I can help with Doctor Hamilton?”, Blaire asked. “No we should be alright Blaire. Just stay out in the reception in case more patients show up.”, Mikali instructed. Blaire nodded and went back to the front.
Mikali cut the rest of Landon’s shirt off to properly look at the burn and his various cuts and bruises. “Want to tell me what the hell happened?”, Mikali asked as he placed his glowing hands onto Landon’s arm letting the healing effect pass from his hands to Landon’s body. The cuts and cruises disappeared and slowly the burn started to disappear as if it never happened. “I took on Wanda.”, Landon explained. “You did what!?”, Mikali exclaimed. “BLAIRE CALL LANDON’S PARENTS FOR ME AND TELL THEM TO GET HERE!”, Mikali shouted to Blaire. “Yes Doctor Hamilton.”, Blaire called back before picking up the phone and called the Haven. “Hi Misses Bryant? This is Blaire Delaney calling from the Hamilton Medical Center. Mister Hamilton wants you and Mister Bryant to come to the clinic. Landon was just admitted with a severe burn.”, Blaire explained. “We…we will be right there.”, Aislinn said hanging up grabbing David heading for the car. “Where are we going?”, David asked as he was being taken to the car. “Drive to the medical center. Landon just got admitted with a burn.”, Aislinn instructed getting into the passenger seat. David nodded and got in driving away quickly. “I had to take her on a final time Uncle Mikali.”, Landon argued. “How about you save the explanation for your parents. Where the others involved? Who else was injured? Because Tommy took Kisa to some onsite emergency.”, Mikali asked. “The others are there, but none are hurt. Kisa is going because Rose hurt Wanda rather badly after she hit me with the hex that resulted in the burn.”, Landon answered. “But I’ll wait for mom and dad to explain it all. Think I’m going to just lay here for a bit.”, Landon said closing his eyes resting from the fight.
Duncan arrived at the docs at the same time that Tommy skidded to a stop holding Kisa. He sat her back down and Kisa threw up. “I don’t get motion sickness but apparently traveling at speed of light I do.”, Kisa admitted. She looked up and saw Duncan. “Duncan?”, she questioned. “Kisa? Thomas?”, Duncan questioned. “Come on Misses Kearney this way.”, Tommy said grabbing her arm leading her into the warehouse. The kids were all sitting on the floor outside the cell. Wanda having given up on yelling for them to let her out. “Landon is safe with Mikali getting healed. I’ve brought Kisa and grumpy is right behind us.”, Tommy said sitting down on the floor with Lily. Kisa looked over the kids looking for any injuries, “Thomas said there was someone injured. I don’t see even a scratch on you kids. So who am I here for?”, Kisa asked. Rose stood up and banged on the door of the cell. “Put just your left arm out through the bars and don’t think of trying anything funny because I will cut the damn thing off.”, Rose ordered. Wanda glared as she approached the door and stuck her bleeding left arm out the cell the piece of fabric having soaked up a lot of blood. Kisa took a step back seeing Wanda. “What the hell is going on?”, Kisa asked. “That’s a very good question Kisa. So who explaining this to me since Landon isn’t here. As I heard from Thomas he’s at the clinic with Mikali for healing.”, Duncan’s thick Scottish voice filled the room. Rose raised her hand. “I’ll be explaining this sir. Misses Kearney if you could please just see to the prisoner. We show our prisoners more care than she did.”, Rose said. Kisa nodded and grabbed Wanda’s wrist. “You do understand I’m only healing your wound because I made a hippocratic oath when I became a doctor. Otherwise the tiger side of me would like to just rip your arm off for what you did to my friends and what your…I don’t even know what to call Pryo to you…did to my twin.”, Kisa said glaring actual hate in her honey eyes. Wanda snorted and just watched as Kisa laid a healing hand on her and she felt the bleeding stop and the pain in her arm go away. Kisa pulled away the blood stained fabric just in time to see the three holes close. She noticed their size and distance and looked to the kids stepping away from the cell wondering who put those holes in Wanda’s arm.
Duncan folded his arms across his chest and looked to Rose. “So start explaining, Roselyn.”, Duncan requested. Rose sighed hating when she was called Roselyn by most people. “I’ll start at the beginning then. Way back like three years ago now, Atif told Landon about a vision he head. The vision was of Landon’s death. He was hit by a purple light and was dead. The two of them kept that from the rest of us.”, Rose started glancing at Atif before looking back to Duncan. “At new years before we fought Wanda Atif saw a more clearer vision and knew it was Wanda that was intended to kill Landon with her hex ball. We fought her without Landon saying a word about the vision. As you know my dad saved him that night. However the vision didn’t go away. Landon chose to start training with my dad to get ready for when the fight with Wanda would happen. He didn’t tell any of us why he was training with my dad. At the party he received a card from Wanda threatening him indirectly saying that this would be the last birthday he saw. He finally clued us in on what was going on. He got Forge to make the MDR that we are standing in, we all faked being made at him for the most part this summer so she’d think he was alone in facing her, we trained all summer to be part of the program this MDR runs. Landon didn’t want any of us to actually fight her so he figured it was safer to have drones fight instead. Till she killed the drone of him and then our drones. Then Landon took her on himself and was doing good till she decided to go against her agreement of no powers and hit him with a hex ball. I got involved and well I don’t know what really happened. I was just filled with such rage that she hurt Landon. And my claws popped from between my knuckles and I stabbed her arm.”, Rose continued to explained. “That explains why those punctures looks familiar, Howlett claws.”, Kisa commented. Rose nodded. “Then Landon and I fought her till we got her to the spot where the trap was set. The cage formed around her and she’s been in there ever sense. The cage has an inhibitor so she can’t use her powers. Then I called you and sent Tommy to take Landon to be healed and bring someone here to heal Wanda. Did I miss anything?”, Rose finished looking to the group wondering if she left anything out.
“How about what makes you think you students should go after the head of the Academy? I understood when it was a rescue mission to bring your dad back. But a vision isn’t really much cause to take her on again. And the threat could have been brought to me or the property local authorities like Azriel or Colby to be addressed.”, Duncan questioned. Ashley took the tablet from Billy and pulled up the video from the fight. “How about because Landon got her to admit to all the atrocities she committed back before most of us were born? I mean I don’t know what the stature of limitations is on murder and treason, since she did take over the United States Government from her own sister to pull off what she did, but as X-Men it’s our jobs to keep psycho dangerous mutants like her off the streets.”, Ashley said playing the video long enough for Wanda’s confession. Duncan sighed. “But now the Academy is going to retaliate.”, Duncan said. The kids all shook their heads. “No they aren’t sir. We know for a fact that the Academy did not support Wanda in her effort to kill Landon. They weren’t going to back her win or lose today. In fact she’s not even in charge anymore, Azazel is.”, Billy explained. “So we trade the witch for the devil? I’m not sure how I fell about that. I also don’t know how I fell that Logan and Forge helped in the endeavor and told me nothing.”, Duncan said taking out his phone and first calling Logan. “Logan?”, Duncan greeted. “Hi Duncan. What do you want? I’m about to open the pub.”, Logan answered. “Why did you not tell me you were training Landon Bryant to fight Wanda Maximoff? I didn’t authorize this mission or that training.”, Duncan demanded. “Didn’t think it was any of your business. Landon was told about this death and chose to face it, that’s kind of his choice. And since I’m retired, or did you forget you wouldn’t reinstatement me, I figure I don’t report you BOY. Now I have one question or you. Did he win?”, Logan said his tone conveyed his annoyance with Duncan. “He captured Wanda, and was sent to Mikali for emergency healing as a result.”, Duncan said. “So he won. I knew he would. Bye Duncan.”, Logan said hanging up on him. Rose and the kids all heard Logan, because he was being loud on purpose, covered their mouths to muffle laughter at how Logan spoke to Duncan. Even Kisa tried to not laugh.
Duncan shook his head and next called Forge. “Forge?”, Duncan greeted. “Um Yes what’s going on?”, Forge asked half awake having falling asleep after working all night on an invention he’d dreamed up. “At what point did you start taking orders from students? Last I knew you were part of my team and therefore all missions and tech needed for said missions need my approval.”, Duncan said agitated. Forge yawned. “I’m guessing Landon trapped Wanda with my hand dandy MDR. Glad it worked for him. Smart kid that one. And I don’t take orders from anyone, respectfully. Landon came to me for help. I provided it because it would keep him safe. And I didn’t tell you because well frankly it wasn’t your business what the kid was going to do since it wasn’t X-Men related but personal. Wanda threw the gauntlet he was just answering. And if you don’t like the way I run things in my lab I can pack it up and walk any day you ask Duncan. Cause let’s remember you need my tech more than I need this roof over my head.”, Forge explained. Duncan sighed and grumbled. “Next time a student asks you for something just get the idea approved by me going forward.”, Duncan said. “Oh yes sure, you bet.”, Forge said sarcastically before hanging up. Duncan shook his head. “Guess I need to call in a cleanup team. Get this cell back to the institute so she can spend her life in the detention cells of the institute. Because I don’t think human law would be able to properly detain or contain her. You kids should leave, maybe go check on Landon.”, Duncan said pointing to the door. He pulled out his communicator and radio for a reach to come to the docks for clean up. The seven shrugged and stood up. “Misses Kearney would you like a ride to the clinic?”, Tommy offered. “You aren’t planning to run me there are you?”, Kisa asked. Tommy laughed. “No ma’am. Lily will drive Landon’s van..”, Tommy said pointing to the van. Kisa sighed. “Then yes I’ll take a ride back.”, Kisa said getting into the front. “Anyone want to tell Aunt Kisa that Lily driving is scarier than being carried at Tommy’s speed?”, Ashley whispered with a laugh as the group got into the van and left the docks.
David and Aislinn arrived at the clinic and headed inside. “Where is he Blaire?”, David questioned. “Back that way Mister Bryant second room on the left.”, Blaire said pointing. David and Aislinn gave a nod as they rushed down the hall and into the exam room. “LANDON!”, Aislinn shouted in a cross between anger and worry. Landon sat up quickly. “Hi mom.”, Landon said quickly. “I’ve healed him but now he can explain to all of us why he had a third degree burn on his side.”, Mikali explained. Aislinn, using her husband’s eyes, rushed over and hugged Landon tightly. “Why do you keep giving us heart attacks?”, Aislinn asked running her hand over his hair. Landon laughed. “Sorry mom. Promise last time for a while.”, Landon said. David arched a pierced brow and looked at Landon. “So explain. What the hell happened? This got something to do with all the kids being mad at you?”, David asked. Mikali looked confused. “Mad at him? But I just saw all of them with him yesterday. I thought they’d made up.”, Mikali wondered looking to Landon. Landon sighed. “Alright so no hitting, I think I’ve taken enough damage today. Back when I was thirteen Atif told me about a vision he had, of a purple light killing me. I didn’t tell anyone but Aunt Isis and only because she’s my shrink. At new years Atif’s vision was clear the purple light that killed me was one of Wanda’s hexes. So I went into that fight knowing I could die. But bringing Rose’s dad back…making her happy and setting right what Wanda did was more important than myself. Logan saved me from dying that night. But Atif’s vision didn’t change. So knowing I’d have to fight her again I started training with Logan. It wasn’t till the birthday party that I decided I had to tell the others. And that’s only because Wanda sent me a death threat greeting card.”, Landon explained.
Aislinn looked at him through her husband’s eyes in shock and hugged him tightly. “My poor son..”, Aislinn said. “Why didn’t you come to us? Tell us?”, David asked. “I couldn’t dad. I’m not Haven so her gunning for me you couldn’t get involved. I know you’d want to because I’m your son and I know Aunt Solangel certainly would because she’d not care about the Haven Law. But I do. So I came up with a plan. When I told everyone about the vision and well when I told Rose and Rachel about the whole me liking both of them and such they were all pretty mad at me. I told them I wanted them to stay mad. I needed Wanda to think she had me scared and alone. I wanted to lure her into a false sense of security. It worked. I was training with the team on the sly, training with Logan, Rose and Rachel otherwise and helping Forge building a mobile danger room to trap Wanda with.”, Landon explained. Mikali blinked and smiled a little impressed. David was smiling impressed with his kid. Blaire had come to the door and was listening. Landon saw her and shook his head. “So it took all summer to get the MDR ready. Today I set up the program which was going to have a drone of me and the guys to fight Wanda. I called her out and lured her to the warehouse at the docks. Our drones fought her as I programmed them to and it ended with her getting the drones of the team cornered and my drone jumped in the way ‘dying’ from a hex ball.”, Landon explained. “So you used the simulator of this danger room to fulfill Atif’s vision.”, David said. Landon nodded. “Then I walked out and freaked her out big time. I was a bit smug about it because I knew it would piss her off. Which she compared me to you, dad, and called you a jackass. She and I fought for a while. I’d told the others to stay in the observation room unless it looked like I needed help. Well Wanda decided to break our truce of no powers and was forming a hex ball behind her back. Rose came running down and yelled to me. It startled Wanda and gave me time to try and dodge. The shot only grazed me thus the burn instead of being dead.”, Landon explained.
He looked around and could tell his parents, Mikali and Blaire were all hanging on his words. “And then well I guess because Wanda went after me like that I don’t know, but Rose’s bone claws popped for the first time ever and she stabbed Wanda’s arm that threw the hex ball. The others started to come down but I told them to stay. I did get Ashley to cleanse my burn so it didn’t hurt as bad. From there Rose and I tag teamed fighting Wanda will we go here lined up for the trap. Billy or Tommy triggered the trap. Rose told Tommy to bring me here while she was going to debrief Duncan on everything. So to summarize. Wanda is in a cell that uses an inhibitor so she can’t use her powers, let her see how it feels, Rose’s claws popped and I won so I’m pretty sure Atif’s vision of me dying is over. Though till I see him and he can check I don’t know for sure.”, Landon finished. “Just promise me something Landon.”, Aislinn said. “What mom?”, Landon asked. “No more near death situations! I know you are going to be an X-Men and it’s the risk but please stop taking those risks when not sent out on a mission.”, Aislinn asked. Landon laughed and nodded hugging his mom. “Mom you won’t have to work about that. I’m not going to be an X-Men after I graduate. As long as Atif confirms the vision is gone I’ve got my own life I want to live and it’s not going involve being an X-Men or taking over for Duncan.”, Landon assured. Mikali blinked. “Wait you don’t want to be an X-Men? I mean I can get not wanting to lead, but um alright.”, Mikali questioned before shrugging. “Okay so that’s fantastic you are going to die anymore at her hands. Real thrilled about that. And maybe it’s just because in a way this effects me in a way. But now that you aren’t going to die what are you planning to do about my best friend Rachel and your best friend Rose?”, Blaire asked. David sighed shaking his head. “My son almost dies and your question is which Howlett he wants to date?”, David questioned. “Well yeah. Sorry I have more interest in knowing if he’s going to date my best friend or break her heart.”, Blaire answered. Landon sighed. “After I figure that out and I tell them you’ll know Blaire.”, Landon assured.
Out in the lobby there was a lot of commotion. Blaire went out front and saw everyone. “Hey guys. Congrats of caging that bitch. Landon’s in the back with Mister Hamilton, and his parents.”, Blaire instructed pointing. “Thanks Blaire.”, They said heading down the hall. Atif rushed a head of the group into the room and went straight to Landon and hugged him tight. “Whoa…hi Atif.”, Landon said with a laugh till he realized that there was a bit of a glow behind Atif’s eyelids. Atif pulled back from the hug smiling brightly. “And? What do you see?”, Landon asked. “Columbia University sweatshirt.”, Atif said still grinning. Landon smiled and let out a sigh of relief. “Thank god.”, Landon said. “Move.”, Cora Lee said pushing Atif out of her way and hugging her brother. “No more scaring me right!?”, Cora Lee requested. Landon laughed. “Yes no more scaring you. I’m not planning to get into any life and death fights for a long time.”, Landon answered hugging his sister. Cora Lee moved aside and jumped onto the exam table next to her mother. Ashley and Lily came in next and gave Landon a hug. “So no more vision right?”, Lily asked glancing to Atif. “Vision’s gone. Word of Wanda’s capture quickly spread amongst the Institute and many of the original members, those who she’d directly hurt felt a sense of relief that at last she was going to pay for her crimes against them and for all the lives she took those years ago. And because she was taken down by Landon and Rose, being the two that actually fought her, the two were becoming a bit more famous amongst the younger students than they already were. But like many things the word also managed to reach the Academy as they received confirmation that Wanda failed and was now in the custody of the X-Men. Which after confirmation was received Azazel called for an Academy meeting, of everyone. So they all gathered in the large reception room of the school. “Thank you all for coming. I know that many of you, especially some of the younger students have been wondering what has been going on recently. This action was not backed by her fellow Acolytes as we all agreed that singling one student out was not in the best interest of the Academy and our goals. She was told that if she went forward with her plans to face this boy win or lose she would receive no backing from the Academy. It has been confirmed that she did in fact lose her battle against Landon. Presently she is now the prisoner of the X-Men. It has been agreed by all the Acolytes that going forward I will be the headmaster.”, Azazel explained.
Talia smiled as it was finally confirmed that now her father was in charge. “Serves Wanda right, being so stupid.”, Talia muttered. Malcolm rolled his eyes. “We will not retaliate nor make any effort to retrieve Wanda. Any Academy student or staff that makes an attempt against the X-men to retrieve Wanda will be punished by me personally. Other than the loss of Wanda as part of our staff there will be no other changes to our staff. I have been assured that John, Vin, and Lorna all intend to remain on staff here. We will continue on as normal with classes and training. Please continue on with your day as normal as this concludes our meeting.”, Azazel said dismissing the group. Malcolm took a breath and moved through the crowd of students to his family. “Mom, dad, Kevin and Larissa I need to talk to you. I had wanted to wait to talk to you about this. I mean you’ve recently been stepping up Azazel would probably let you take the leader role in regards to the students. Malcolm sighed and placed a hand on his little brother’s shoulder. “Kevin I can’t stay with the Academy. It’s not my believes and I can’t pretend it is. I don’t want to fight anyone. I plan to move to the Haven with our cousins along with Merrick and Sebastian.”, Malcolm explained. His family still looked at him worried and confused. “Please don’t worry about me. So I made sure that her decision wasn’t supported and then knowing she’d be facing him alone I made my deal with Azazel to put him in the leader role to ensure that I could walk away and you would all be safe. Because as long as Aunt Wanda was in power and wanted Landon dead I couldn’t leave the Academy. You wouldn’t have been safe.”, Malcolm explained. “You aren’t making sense son.
