Adder turned and watched the duo walk away in the direction of the river. "Oy, wait for me!", she shouted as she ran to catch up to them. Ashton softly shook his head as he heard her call after them. "Great you've got a new pet.", Ashton commented to Mason. Mason simply chuckled and shrugged. "What can I say I have a certain effect on girls.", Mason joked. "I ain't no pet. And you both can stop talking bout me like I'm not 'ere.",Adder snapped. Mason laughed and glanced back over his shoulder at her. "Duly noted.", Mason stated turning his attention forward again. “It doesn’t really matter what we call her. We should just ditch the kid. I’ll never understand your soft spot for strays Mason”, Ashton said shaking his head. “I’m a humanitarian I suppose. And I’m also a big brother to a girl about Adder’s age. So that might be a factor too.”, Mason said. " I ain’t followin’ ya for the hell of it. I was coming 'ere anyways. I'm in the fig'ts. You two nancys are gonna get trounced.",Adder said pushing past them heading inside. Mason chuckled. "You really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. There's more to us than meets the eye.", Mason said as they walked inside.
Once inside Adder went on to place her bets and got ready for her fights. She paid little attention as Mason and Ashton got told when their fights would be. Her fight was before theirs so the two stood back and watched her fight. The guy she was fighting, there was a lack of female competitors, was taller and heavier set than her but of all the fighters closest to her size. Ashton had placed his money against Adder where Mason choose to not bet at all. Ashton said it seemed happy given she'd bet against both of them. "I can't believe that little bird bet against us.", Ashton complained. Mason laughed and handed Ashton a beer. "She doesn't know us so let her pass her judgment. Just be that much more fun when we win our fights.", Mason said taking a sip as he watched Adder's fight start. She didn't have any set style and was all over the place with her method, but it was affective. She was getting hits in though wasn't always able to dodge the punches from her opponent. The match went on for a bit till she hit a final blow which knocked the man down and this time he didn't get back up. "Bloody 'ell. Now I'm out twenty quid.", Ashton complained. Mason laughed and patted Ashton on the shoulder. "That my friend is why you don't judge a book by its cover. Now I'm up. So here.", Mason said taking out his gold pocket watch and handed it to Ashton. "Hold this for me.", Mason said before then removing his sex pistols shirt not really wanting to get blood on it. He walked past Adder as she was leaving the ring collecting her share of the winnings from her fight. She gave a cursory glance to Mason as he passed her. She still had her doubts of how good a fighter he could be. Many guys worked out that didn't make them fighters.
Mason stepped into the ring and his opponent stepped forward who was a tad bigger than him. Mason smiled and looked up at the man. The man grinned back his teeth mangled and some missing. Judging by the way the man looked at him Mason figured the man was judging him as weak. The man took his fighting stance and so did Mason and at the bell the match began with Mason landing a solid punch between his opponent's eyes staggering him back. This seemed to anger the man as he charged Mason. Mason blocked the attack and using the fighting forms he'd been taught through his life used the larger man's weight against him turning his own force against him. The match wasn't very long as it took Mason a short time to find the man's weak point, his left arm that he seemed to favor and exploit it. Without mercy Mason managed to get the man to the ground and place said arm into an arm lock submission hold. Ashton watched with a smile not surprised by Mason's pending victory. Adder watched with the crowd and like those who'd bet against the new comer was a bit disappointed that he was winning. The larger man yelled in pain not willing to submit that was till Mason snapped the arm out of socket and the man yelled and cursed in pain tapping his free hand. Mason let go of the hold and stood up leaning to offer his hand to help the man up. "Good match. Here let me help you set that shoulder back into place.", Mason offered. The man raised an eyebrow a bit confused but took Mason's hand getting up. "Umm sure kid.", the man said gruffly. Mason nodded and with a swift movement he set the man's shoulder. "There you go mate. Have a good night.", Mason said politely before gathering his winnings which was a lot as most bet against him. Mason took his shirt and pocket watch back from Ashton pocketing his winnings.
"I think you made an impression Mason.", Ashton commented. "Good. You'll be up shortly. See what they make of you.", Mason replied. "Well I tell you this I won't be as gracious as you on victory. Helping your wounded opponent up and even fixing his shoulder...yeah that I won't be doing in my match.", Ashton stated. Mason chuckled pulling his shirt back on. "T'at because you an arse'ole.", Adder chimed in walking up to them. Mason smirked while Ashton rolled his eyes. "What do you want pet?", Ashton questioned. Adder glared disliking being called pet. "I ain't your pet.", Adder hissed. "Right I forgot your Mason's pet since he's the nice one.", Ashton teased. "Leave her be Ashton. You know her name is Adder so let's just call her that. So why are you here?", Mason inquired. "Well fer one I just lost ten quid on t'at matc'.", Adder explained. Mason shrugged. "Told you not to judge a book by its cover.", Mason stated. "You better not be over here expecting him to give you that ten quid because you were foolish enough to bet against him.", Ashton said. Adder hissed at Ashton. "I'm not t'at type of person. I lost it ain't a feeling I like, but it's t'e c'ance I took bettin'. Was actually comin' to tell him good matc'.", Adder said sticking her forked snake like tongue out at Ashton. Ashton blinked not sure if he should be annoyed at the girl or appalled by the forked tongue. Mason raised an eyebrow but chuckled. "Enough the both of you. Ashton you're sure in the ring.", Mason said breaking the two apart. Ashton snorted and took off his watch handing it to Mason for safe keeping before heading to the ring for his match.
Mason moved closer to watch the match. Mason pushed his way through the crowd. Apparently Ashton had drawn in the random lotto the reigning champ so the crowd had gotten four deep trying to catch the new meat go against the top dog. Adder tried to push through to see. Ashton had talked big she wanted to see him eat those words. However she was having a hard time getting through the crowd to see as most were taller. Mason glanced over his shoulder and saw Adder trying to get through the crowd. He reached back into the crowd and pulled her forward. "Come on, pet. You can see better from here.", Mason said offering to let her up on his back to see. Adder considered hissing at him calling her pet but his time was different than when Ashton said it so she didn't. She wasn't sure how much she trusted him though in regards to getting on his back but it didn't seem like she'd get a better view otherwise so she did and watched from over his shoulder. "You're being rat'er trustin' to a stranger w'o could just steal your wallet and run.", Adder commented. "I wish you luck at stealing my wallet as it's in my front pocket, pet. And you aren't really going to reach there. Now let's watch and see if Ashton wins and gets your money or he loses and you get his.", Mason teased. Adder snorted a little, he was right she wasn't going to reach into his front pocket. So she started quiet and got ready to watch the match. Ashton and his opponent who was much bigger in compassion stared the other down. Mason knew Ashton was assessing the man for any signs of weakness. From his vantage Mason saw none. But Ashton saw something very small was he and the man circled each other. The man seemed to bit keep much weight on his left foot. It was tiny and Ashton almost didn't notice it but when he did Ashton grinned. "What he grinning for?", Adder asked out loud. "He must have spotted a weak point.", Mason explained.
The bell sounded and the large man went for Ashton but Ashton dropped down low and went directly for the man's legs getting him to the ground and started to twist at the left ankle. The man grunted hitting the ground and tried to kick Ashton off with his other foot and with a few attempts was able to knock Ashton away though the damage was done. He got to his feet having to favor his left foot more than before. Ashton took a few hits throwing a few solid punches of his own hitting the man hard. Every hit and movement Ashton made was to force his opponent to put weight on the left foot. Ashton drew it out before again tackling the man down and putting him into a solid ankle kick submission applying excessive pursue and twisting at the injured ankle, a cracking sound could be heard softly under all the shouting of the crowd. "As'ton is....", Adder tried to find the words. "An unyielding and violent man?", Mason offered. Adder nodded. "Yup. He's not known for being gentle.", Mason commented. "Glad it was you w'o decided to confront me bout followin' yah.", Adder stated now understanding what the duo had meant when they said it was best for her it had been Mason and not Ashton that choose to stop her. The man finally tapped unable to get Ashton to break the hold nor take the pain. Ashton finally released his hold when he was named the winner to the astonishment of all but him and Mason.
"Well I hope your other bets were more fruitful.", Mason commented. Adder shrugged. "Made a couple quid.", she answered. Ashton collected his winnings and pushed through the crowd and over to Mason. "Well that was good sport. Why is your pet on your back?", Ashton asked pocketing his winnings. Mason chuckled and rolled his eyes at Ashton. “He was just wanted ta pick me up suppose.”, Adder answered. Mason rolled his eyes. “She wanted to see if you were all talk so I let her up on my back so she could see through the crowd. Apparently the guy who’s ankle you just snapped was top dog around this fighting ring.”, Mason said. “Meh he wasn’t so tough. So you learn your lesson about judging books by their covers?”, Ashton questioned taking his watch back from Mason putting it on his write. “Yea’ I ain’t gonna bet against ya two in the future.”, Adder said. “Release your pet back into the wild and lets get back to the dorm. We have to still sneak past the RA.”, Ashton said checking the time. Mason shrugged and bent down. “Alright, down you go pet. Need to go sneak into our dorms back at Oxford University.”, Mason instructed. Adder nodded getting down. “Guess I’ll be seein’ yah blokes around. Be mindful of yer pockets.”, Adder teased walking away from them as they headed for a different exit to return to their dorm.
