Blaire didn’t sleep very well as she knew she’d have to talk to her mom come morning. And since her dad had taken away her phone and laptop she couldn’t call any of her friends to talk to them. Giving up on sleeping Blaire ended up out in the living room fiddling with her necklace watching James Bond movies waiting for her mom. She turned hearing the door opened but looked back to the tv when she saw it was her father. Colby sighed as she looked away from her. “Blaire… I don’t want you to be mad at me. I’m just doing what I think I should in this situation. You’re my little girl and the idea of you growing up scares the shit out of me. And when you decide the boy you want to be with is someone with a reputation like your Uncle’s and how travels the country so you never see him. I just worry.”, Colby admitted taking off his hat and hanging it up in the coat closet. “I’m not a little girl though dad. I am growing up and you need to see and accept that. Tristan is a flirt but by no means is he Uncle Azriel. As he said last night I’m the only one he’s been with. Can we even count how many girls Uncle Azriel was by the time he turned eighteen? Exactly. Tristan is a really sweet guy and he cares about me dad. We both know that we aren’t the types that could handle a long distance relationship, certainly not now. So we accept that when he’s away we are just friends who talk on the phone and text but when he’s here. When he’s here dad he’s mine and I’m his.”, Blaire explained.
Colby sighed and sat down on the couch next to her. “Skyfall? This is that one that came out a couple years ago. I remember taking your mom to see it in the theaters. Good flick.”, Colby said. Blaire nodded. “Yeah, Tristan and I saw it together on a date that first year I met him.”, Blaire commented. Colby raised an eyebrow. “A date? Excuse me?”, Colby asked. Blaire smiled a little fiddling with her necklace. “I know you don’t like the word date. But I’ve gone on a number of dates with Tristan in the last two years when he’s in town. The first date we went on he took me to see Skyfall and then we went and stargazed from the bed of the truck.”, Blaire said remember the night fondly. Colby looked skeptical at her. “Star gazing?”, Colby asked. Blaire nodded. “His dad taught him to navigate by stars like you taught me. It’s one of those things we have in common.”, Blaire explained running her fingers over her star pendant. “Where did the necklace come from?”, Colby asked. “Tristan gave it to me last night on our date, long before we came to the house, as a belated birthday present.”, Blaire explained. “Date? So last night was part of a date?”, Colby asked. Blaire rolled her eyes. “He met me and the others at the Dot and we hung out as a group, ate burgers, drank shakes, laughed and had a good time. Then the others went to the club and Tristan and I went over to the field where the rodeo is being set up. He took me for a horseback ride on his white quarter horse named Paxton. In a clearing a bit ways off from where the rodeo is being set up we hung out and looked at the stars again like we did on our first date. And when talking about the north star, alright so it’s kind of lame, he gave me this necklace comparing me to north star.”, Blaire said smiling. “That is lame. And I know lame, we smell our own.” Colby commented. Blaire laughed a little and elbowed her dad. “Yes well Tristan is a lot less lame than you.”, Blaire teased. Colby rolled his eyes. “I still don’t like the boy or you being with him.”, Colby added.
They both turned to look at the door as it opened. Alison walked in having changed from her X-Men uniform into street clothes before leaving the institute and looked half asleep. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail but from the hours of doing whatever was required on her mission it had started to fray and strands were falling out. She looked over at the couch seeing her husband and daughter looking at her. “Morning loves.”, Alison yawned stretching. “Morning sweetheart.”, Colby greeted. “Morning mom.”, Blaire said. Alison started to head for the hallway wanting nothing more than to fall asleep. “Before you go to bed, your daughter has something she needs to tell you that will not wait till you have rested so don’t try to ask for postponement.”, Colby stated. Alison groaned and turned to look at them and folded her arms across her chest. “Blaire London Delaney, what have you done that your father is calling you mine?”, Alison questioned. Blaire sighed and stood up. “Um well...er...it’s that. Dad caught me havingsexwithTristianWhitland.”, Blaire blurted out the last and important part being said so quickly it jumbled together. Alison raised an eyebrow. “Your dad caught you what? I don’t speak jibberish.”, Alison said. “Having sex with Tristan Whiteland.”, Blaire said more clearly. Alison blinked. “Having sex with who? Is there a funeral I’m attending? Tell me you didn’t kill a boy Colby.”, Alison questioned. “No I didn’t kill the boy. Azriel and Sadria apparently frowned on that thought.”, Colby grumbled.
“Tristan Whitland is a guy that I really like and I’ve been seeing when he comes to town the rodeo. His dad is Alex Whiteland, Misses Howlett’s friend from Oregon. And dad may not have killed him but he did shoot at him which cause Tristan to go out my window naked to hide down the beach till Uncle Azriel got him and gave him a blanket and brought him back to get his clothes and leave with his dad.”, Blaire explained. Alison nodded half awake. “Right. So boy you like. Okay. Is it serious then?”, Alison asked. “Yes and no. Yes in the sense that it’s serious enough I’ve slept with him. No in that we aren’t dating since we live so far apart and understand that right now long distance wouldn’t work.”, Blaire explained. Alison nodded. “Okay. So call and invite this Tristan and Alex to lunch. I’ll cook something.”, Alison stated. “But I grounded Blaire. And I don’t want that boy in our house.”, Colby stated. Alison nodded and waved dismissively at Colby. “She can still be grounded. But I will not take your judgement on someone. I shall pass my own judgements. After all which of us in judge and which isn’t. Exactly. I’m going to bed. I will meet this Tristan and see what I think of him this afternoon. Now good night to you both.”, Alison said getting in the final word before going to her bedroom to sleep. Colby grumbled shaking his head going back to the bedroom and undressing and getting into bed for some rest after pulling a night shift. He knew better after all these years than to argue with Alison.
Blaire smiled and went to make the phone call but couldn’t mind her cell as her dad had locked it up. So she went old school and called Tristan’s cell from the house phone. Tristan was already awake and down at the field cleaning out pens that morning as part of his punishment. He paused hearing his phone and didn’t recognize the number but picked up. “Um Hello? Tristan Whitland’s phone.”, Tristan answered questionly. “Hey babe it’s me.”, Blaire greeted with a grin. Tristan raised an eyebrow confused. “Blaire? I thought your dad grounded you from like all electronics. Where are you calling me from?”, Tristan asked. “He did. I’m calling from the house phone. Mom told me to call. And well Judge outranks the warden”, Blaire explained with a giggle. Tristan laughed a little shaking his head. “Oh I got to be your one phone call, I’m touched. But why is the judge allowing you your one phone call?”, Tristan teased. “Why do I hear you on a phone and not shoveling manure?”, Alex questioned coming to check on his son. “Blaire called me from their house phone. Apparently her mom let her make the call.”, Tristan explained. Alex raised an eyebrow. “Why?”, Alex questioned. “I just asked that.”, Tristan said.
“Because she wants to meet you and make her own judgment. So I’m supposed to invite you and your dad to lunch.”, Blaire explained. “Lunch? Um alright. At least this time I can be prepared to meet a parent. What time?”, Tristan asked. Blaire giggled. “And clothed, that’ll help. Come by around 1, do not come hungry my mom said she was going to cook. And I love her, she can sing, dance and fight crime both as a judge and an X-Men but cooking is not her thing. Baking yes but cooking no.”, Blaire warned. Tristan laughed. “Yeah wearing clothes will help. Alright lunch it is and we won’t bring our appetites.”, Tristan agreed with chuckle. “Alright good. I’ll see you then. Bye Tristan.”, Blaire said. “Bye babe.”, Tristan said hanging up. Alex tilted his head. “What’s happening?”, Alex questioned. “Apparently we are having lunch at the Delaney house. Misses Delaney wants to meet me for herself. Blaire said her mom is cooking but isn’t a good cook so we shouldn’t bring our appetites.”, Tristan said. Alex shrugged. “Alright well back to work. You’ve still got plenty of stalls to muck out before we go to the hotel to wash up for this lunch.”, Alex said walking away as Tristan went back to work.
Tristan had to shower extra well to get rid of the smell of the horse and bull dung. He picked a clean pair of medium wash jeans that didn’t have tears in them, a clean white tee, and a cream long sleeve work shirt to wear over mostly buttoned with of course his boots and the pendant Blaire gave him. Alex tried to not laugh at his son and how he appeared a little nervous on this whole lunch. “You must like Blaire, you’re nervous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you nervous.”, Alex teased grabbing his hat having cleaned up and dressed already. “Shut up dad.”, Tristan said grabbing his hat and heading to the truck. Alex chuckled and headed to the truck driving back to the scene of his son’s ‘crime’. Alison had indeed decided to make lunch. Her plan was to make homemade macaroni and cheese, grilled chicken, side salad and her cherry pie. Colby had at least spared the chicken by insisting that he man the grill so she could focus on the stuff in the kitchen. The macaroni and cheese however was not spared it’s fate of being over cooked and looking burnt. Blaire felt horrible for the Whitlands because she knew at least Tristan would try and be polite and eat the food. She’d set the table for five as requested and waited leaning on the counter helping chop the veggies to put into the salad bowls.
She was quick to get the door when it opened and smiled seeing Tristan. “Hi.”, Blaire said. “Hi.”, Tristan greeted leaning to get a kiss but his dad nudged him so he wasn’t able to. “Hello again Blaire.”, Alex greet. “Hi Mister Whitland. Please come inside.”, Blaire said stepping aside. “Thank you.”, Alex said taking his hat off as he walked in. Tristan right behind him, taking off his hat and using it like a shield to steal a quick kiss from Blaire. Alison walked out from the kitchen area setting the salad bowl onto the table. “Hi Alex. We haven’t ever formerly been introduced by I recognize you from the picture Aurelia has at the pup. And you must be the infamous Tristan.”, Alison said. Alex smiled giving a nod. “Nice to meet you Alison.”, Alex greeted. Tristan gave a nod smiling. “It’s a real pleasure to meet you Misses Delaney.”, Tristan said. Alison raised an eyebrow. “He knows who you are mom. He listens to your music. And I’ll state for the record could have easily been one of the backup dancers in the Single Ladies music video.”, Blaire teased taking Tristan’s hand giving it a gentle squeeze. Alison laughed smiling. Tristan noticed that Alison’s laugh and smile were very similar to Blaire’s. “Is that so?”, Alison giggled. Alex raised an eyebrow confused. Colby walked in from the deck with the tray of chicken. “You’re the same age as I am Alex, if you do not remember who Dazzler is you apparently went through a very different form of puberty than I did.”, Colby stated setting the chicken down. Alex blinked for a moment looking at Alison when the reality of it set in, the mother of the girl his son was sleeping with was a pop star that he used to find attractive during his years of puberty. Alison laughed at his expression. "That's about the same look Colby had eighteen years ago when I was just a lawyer and volunteered to go on a stakeout to catch an anti-mutant serial killer that was only going after women and he figured out that I'm Dazzler apparently the pop star he used to jerk off to. Been married to him for seventeen years and it's still damn creepy.", Alison teased her husband with a light laugh.
Colby rolled his eyes. “Hey look at that you two have more than just a redhead in common now.”, Alison teased. Blaire and Tristan both chuckled a little taking seats at the table. Alex and Colby both sighed sitting down. Alison giggled going to the kitchen to get the macaroni and cheese. “I hit on Aurelia once and loaned her my jacket after finding her on the beach not exactly dressed for the weather nearly twenty years ago. Then said jacket was returned torn up by Logan and ever since people have thought more happened than did. Logan just happens to be an extremely territorial guy and her wearing my jacket pissed him off.”, Colby sighed shaking his head. Alex nodded. “It’s alright dad. Either way you look at it you came out ahead in the game. You married mom and have me and Carter. I say that’s a win for you. And Mister Whitland got Tristan, and that’s definitely a win.”, Blaire commented with a smile. Colby rolled his eyes at that comment. “Lunch looks good Misses Delaney.”, Tristan commented looking at the grilled chicken and the salad thinking Blaire had exaggerated. “Why thank you Tristan. Colby grilled the chicken for me and Blaire helped get the salad together. However this is all me”, Alison said setting down the chard casserole dish of macaroni and cheese. Tristan coughed a little and Alex just stared in fear at the blacked dish. Blaire tried to not laugh at their reactions. “I made a cherry pie for dessert, too.”, Alison said setting the flaky and golden crusted pie down as well. Tristan glanced to Blaire seeing the humor connection. He remembered after this actual first time Blaire wore a corset and jewelry with a cherry theme.
“Well help yourselves.”, Alison said making a plate for herself. Blaire took a larger helping of the salad with her chicken and a tiny amount of the macaroni and cheese to make her mom feel okay about her cooking. Colby followed Blaire’s lead and seeing how Colby and Blaire took portion sizes Alex and Tristan followed suit. All carefully crunching and eating the small portion of macaroni and cheese to just get it off their plates before eating everything else. “So from what I understand based on the intel I have on you both, you run the Christian ranch in Oregon that you took over from Aurelia’s parents and then started the rodeo that you travel most of the year with and Tristan is one of the bull riders in.”, Alison said making conversation. Alex and Tristan nodded, though Tristan looked a little worried at the idea that Blaire’s mom had intel on him. “Yeah that would be right Alison. Though I’m a little worried what you mean by ‘intel’.”, Alex answered. Alison smiled politely. “Well let’s just say it pays to be a county Judge and an X-Men. There’s very little that I can’t find out about a person before meeting them.”, Alison explained. Tristan held back a gulp at that fact. Colby found that amusing and smiled at Tristan looking a little uncomfortable. “Mom.”, Blaire said shaking her head. “What you think I wouldn’t get Forge to dig up everything he could on the Whitland men especially Tristan? I don’t go into a situation unprepared. Especially when said situation is meeting a boy that is in an intimate relationship with my daughter.”, Alison countered. Colby narrowed his eyes for a moment at the way his wife phrased that. Alison patted Colby’s hand. “Would you rather I phrase it more bluntly? Because I could have just as easily said meeting the boy screwing my daughter.”, Alison countered. Colby covered his face shaking his head. Blaire giggled a little and Tristan tried to hide a smirk. Yeah Tristan had decided Blaire’s mom was cool and definitely where Blaire got much of her personality.
“Pardon me but, if you did this research on my son what is the point of meeting him?”, Alex asked. “Simple Alex, a report from Forge tells me what your son has accomplished in his short life good and bad. But it can’t tell me his personality. It can’t show me how he is around my daughter. I can only learn that by being around him in person. And his character is more what I’m concerned with than things like his speeding tickets or how many times he’d placed or won in his rodeo events. You can only measure a person by their character. That’s something I learned from Professor Charles Xavier.”, Alison explained. Tristan was a little relieved that nothing really bad beyond the speeding tickets was found, he couldn’t think of anything bad he’d actually done other than speed. She looked over across the table to Tristan and Blaire smiling. “And cursory glance of your son can easily see he’s well mannered to a point. He is polite and sits up straight. He’s got sense of humor but to be polite has stifled any laughter I can see bubbling up in his eyes at how blunt I’ve been. Those are good qualities. But above any of that his hand hasn’t left my daughters since he got here. “, Alison stated. Tristan smiled giving Blaire’s hand a squeeze. “So have you made your judgment or is the jury still out?”, Blaire asked. “Jury is still in deliberation. I have more questions to ask.”, Alison stated. “I’ll try to answer what I can ma’am.”, Tristan said a little nervous to be questioned by the former lawyer turned judge. “Good. So I’ll be blunt. Which Colby you’ll either want earmuffs or to just walk away for this.”, Alison suggested. Colby rolled his eyes and grabbed his beer. “There are things I just do not want to know.”, Colby said standing up and walking out to the deck. Alex laughed and patted Tristan on the shoulder. “Good luck.”, he said before abandoning his son and headed out to the deck with Colby.
“Alright so just the three of us. Let’s start. This didn’t start last night did it?”, Alison questioned looking directly at Tristan. Tristan blinked. “Um..”, he stammered caught off guard. Blaire even looked a little nervous. “It is well past the stature of limitation for taking legal action. I’m blonde not an idiot. And unlike my husband I do not live in a bubble world where our daughter is perpetually eight.”, Alison stated not taking her eyes of Tristan. Tristan glanced to Blaire his eyes pleading for help. “Um..well no, mom it wasn’t.”, Blaire said. Alison nodded and looked at Blaire. “When was Blaire?”, Alison asked deciding it wasn’t fair to put just the boy on the spot. Blaire looked down at the table for a moment before looking at her mother. “Last summer…”, Blaire answered quietly. “While we were in Hawaii then. And who’s idea was it? Some may say that isn’t relevant. But I say it is as it speaks to someone character.”, Alison said looking from Blaire to Tristan and back again. Tristan pointed to Blaire. “Mine. I knew you and dad would be gone and Tristan was going to be in town. I planned it.”, Blaire explained. Alison nodded. “She may have planned it but obviously I didn’t try to stop it.”, Tristan added feeling all blame wasn’t just Blaire’s. He had been more than willing to sleep with her. “So you both made the conscious decision knowing the potential trouble that you could get into based on her age.”, Alison concluded. Tristan and Blaire nodded. “Yes.”, they answered. “And I still don’t see it as a mistake.”, Tristan stated. “These next few questions are important. First please tell me you use protection. Because if I end up a young grandma, must husband gets to shoot you.”, Alison said. “Oh god yes.”, Tristan answered. “Good. Second for the love of god you better not have used our bedroom or anything contained within.”, Alison. Blaire covered her face laughing. “Trust me mom, no. We did not and will not ever have sex in your bedroom. And we have zero interest in using anything you have in there. Far too creepy for us.”, Blaire said. “There are definitely limits.”, Tristan agreed. Alison sighed a little nodding. “Good. Because I don’t really think your father would appreciate me explaining to you what everything is.”, Alison said. Tristan laughed this time. “Don’t worry mom Uncle Azriel already gave a very informative sex talk to the twins that I sat in on.”, Blaire explained. “Oh lord. Do not tell your father that.”, Alison said shaking her head. “Don’t worry mom I wasn’t going to. I love Uncle Azriel and I tell dad that he will kill him.”, Blaire agreed.
“Did you have other questions ma’am?”, Tristan asked. “What’s the rules then? You obviously have some type of rules in place for this relationship.”, Alison questioned. “When I’m in the area I am all Blaire’s and vice versa.”, Tristan explained smiling at Blaire. “And so when you are gone you do not care that Blaire spends time around other guys and Blaire you don’t care that Tristan is around other girls and guys?”, Alison inquired. “We both know and accept that we are have flirty personalities. If at any point in time Blaire decides there is a boy here she wants to have a serious relationship all she has to do is say so and we stop sleeping together and be just friends.”, Tristan explained. “You both think you can be just friends with someone that not only you’ve had sex with but lost your virginity to?”, Alison asked. Blaire and Tristan looked at each other and then back to her. “Yes. When we aren’t physically together we talk on the phone and text and such like friends.”, Blaire answered. “Like friends? Sweetie you realize that when I had Forge provide me with a report I know every text, every email, every Skype and even every phone call you two have communicated in the last two years.”, Alison stated. Both Tristan and Blaire went pale. “Not going to ask how illegal that is.”, Tristan said. “But yes, friends.” Alison laughed. “I didn’t read or listen to everything. But from a quick scan you two don’t exactly talk like friends more like boyfriend and girlfriend. Which that’s fine. I just want to make sure that you two have an idea of what will happen if this ends. Now I have a final multi level question.”, Alison said. “And that is?”, Tristan asked with arched brow. “What happens if one of you wants this to be more than just a casual relationship? Say if one of you decides that they are jealous of the people the other spends time with when you aren’t around? If possibly one of you decides that what you feel is love?”, Alison asked. “Then we talk about it and handle it like any pair of people where one loves the other and doesn’t know it the others loves them.”, Tristan said looking to Blaire and shrugged a little. “Exactly that’s a bridge we cross if we get to it.”, Blaire stated. Tristan nodded in agreement.
Alison nodded. “Alright then.”, she stated. “And so what’s that mean mom?”, Blaire asked. “That my judgment is made.”, Alison stated. “And I’m not being escorted out or served a restraining order, soo….”, Tristan said hopeful. “That you can two date in whatever capacity you are both comfortable with. I request that all future romps do not happen in the house to avoid conflict with your father.”, Alison stated. “Hotel room then.”, Tristan concluded. “Or whatever. Now I’m going to see if Colby and Alex want some of the pie.”, Alison said walking out onto the deck. Blaire waited till her mom had gotten onto the deck before turning in her chair and kissed Tristan a bit relieved. “You’re mom is probably the coolest mom I’ve ever known.”, Tristan commented with a laugh. Blaire nodded in agreement. “Oh yeah. Sadly this doesn’t overturn dad’s ruling of me being grounded for a month. But it at least does prevent him from trying to stop me from talking to you and seeing you after my grounding is expired.”, Blaire said. “After meeting your mom I can definitely see where you get some of your personality. I about busted out laughing at the fact she made a cherry pie.”, Tristan admitted. Blaire giggled nudging him. “Yes well what can I say I got her humor apparently.”, Blaire admitted. “Other than the whole getting caught having sex and your dad shooting at me, this half of meeting your parents has gone really well.”, Tristan said with a smile. “Indeed. And eventually dad will come around I’m sure.”, Blaire said looking to the glass doors of the deck at their parents.
Colby was leaning on the deck sipping his beer looking out over the ocean while his wife talked to the kids. He didn’t want to know the details which he knew Alison was going to ask. He heard the sliding door opened but didn’t look back knowing it wasn’t his wife. “Not sure it means much but sorry if Tristan caused you much trouble last night.”, Alex said leaning on the deck railing next to Colby sipping a beer. “It doesn’t. I suppose it’s different between being the father of the boy verses the girl. I like to think I’d be as upset if I caught Carter with a girl at this age. Thankful I’ve still got a few years before Carter starts getting serious about girls.”, Colby said shaking his head. Alex nodded. “Yeah I suppose it’s different. I mean I knew eventually he was going to get himself in trouble with some girl or boy’s father. Didn’t exactly figure that would be with a cop’s daughter though. I don’t know what all you have discussed with Blaire in regards to sex. Which it’s not my business. I just know that when I’ve had to talk to Tristan about it the few things I’ve stressed have been verbal consent, legal age, and always using protection. Lord knows I’m not itching to be a young grandfather.”, Alex said shaking his head taking a long swig of his beer. “Alison handled the whole sex talk with Blaire. I’ve gotta give one to Carter this summer since he’s thirteen and puberty is hitting. In regards to Blaire I’ve just stressed that her grades and future are much more important than getting involved with someone. If I had it my way she wouldn’t be with anyone till she finished law school.”, Colby admitted. Alex laughed a little. “Best laid plans of mice and men eh?”, Alex chuckled. “Something like that. What I don’t get how he got past the other kids.”, Colby said shaking his head. “What do you mean by that?”, Alex asked. “You know Blaire hangs out with Aurelia’s kid Rose and all of those kids. Well in that group are her two older cousins Ashley and Atif who are protective of her. Then there’s the groups ring leader Landon Bryant. I’ve seen that boy just look at a local boy who walked up to my daughter and that boy turned back around.”, Colby explained. Alex laughed. “Well I know the other kids, didn’t meet Landon. But the others helped out two years ago setting up the rodeo. They seemed protective of each other and Blaire I suppose. Well my son apparently doesn’t get deterred easily. You did shoot at him and yet he still came here this afternoon.”, Alex pointed out.
Colby shrugged a little as the door opened again. “So I’m done questioning the kids.”, Alison stated. “And what’s the verdict judge?”, Colby asked as he and Alex turned to look at her. “Not guilty. Her grounding still holds for the month. However I am willing to be lenient and allow parole while he’s in town when adult supervision.”, Alison explained. Colby rolled his eyes. “Fine. I learned not waste my breath arguing with you long ago.”, Colby sighed. Alison smiled and gave him a kiss. “Good. Now you will be nice to that boy. They’ve agreed that what last night’s incident will not be repeated.”, Alison said taking Colby’s beer finishing it. “Wait so you got them to agree to no longer have a sexual relationship?”, Colby questioned as to him the wording was open to interpretation. Alison laughed. “Of course not. Just that it’s not going to happen in our house again. So my apologizes Alex, but in the future my suggestion would be separate hotel rooms from your son.”, Alison explained. Alex laughed softly. “he’s paying for it then.”, Alex stated. Colby just shook his head. “Colby she’s not a little kid. And you keep thinking and treating her like she’s eight you’ll lose her.”, Alison said with a sigh. “I know. I just kind of wanted to keep her as my little girl till college at least or better after she graduates law school.”, Colby sighed. “Kids grow up.”, Alex shrugged. “Too damn fast.”, Colby grumbled. “Possibly. But we’ve raised a smart girl. She doesn’t do anything she didn’t already want to. She’s got your thick head. You can’t talk her into anything or talk her out of anything either.”, Alison said patting her husband’s shoulder. “Now I came out here to say dessert time. Who’s ready for some cherry pie?”, Alison asked with a smile. Colby sighed and laughed a little. “Alright desert then.”, Colby said. Alison headed back inside. “The pie is at least good.”, Colby whispered to Alex who was concerned with the possibility that the pie would be like the macaroni and cheese.
Alison started cutting up the pie and setting out a plate for each person. “So you obviously like horses and such Alex. And are single. Have you met Holly Boland?”, Alison asked. Blaire and Colby both groaned. Alex and Tristan looking a little confused by the synchronized groan from the Delaneys. “Um is she a police officer?”, Alex asked. “Holly brought Alex here last night to collect his son.”, Colby explained. “Well that’s different. That’s deal with Officer Boland. That’s not meeting Holly.”, Alison said starting to eat the pie. Tristan took a cautious bite and smiled realizing Blaire was right her mom could bake. “Then no ma’am I’ve apparently not met Holly Boland. Why do you ask and bring up my horses?”, Alex asked. “No Alison. It’s the worst idea I’ve ever heard you start to think.”, Colby said. “Mom please, no.”, Blaire protested. “Holly owns a ranch just outside of town. She’s been Blaire’s riding instructor.”, Alison explained before looking to her husband and daughter. “Why?”, Alison asked. “Because trying to set Sammy’s mom up with Tristan’s dad sounds like the worst idea ever.”, Blaire argued.
Tristan knew the name Sammy. He was the local boy Blaire spent time with when he was gone. He had to agree the idea of his dad with his technical rival’s mom sounded like a bad course of action. “How about because I’ve been best friends with Holly since the police academy and since Nigel she has turned down every man who’s tried faster than they can say ‘hi my name is’.”, Colby pointed out. Alex laughed a little nervous and eat his pie. “Um thanks but, I live across the country. So I’m afraid I’d have to agree that’s a bad idea.”, Alex agreed. “That’s the point though Alex. The eligible men of Bayville and its surrounding areas have the appeal dry toast.”, Alison said simply. Blaire couldn’t help but laugh. “What’s so funny?”, Colby asked. “That the analogy works for the local boys my age. But still mom no trying to set Mister Whitland up with Misses Boland. Levels of awkward you are suggesting have not been discovered by science.”, Blaire said. “Fine.”, Alison shrugged. Alex and Tristan finished their slices of pie. “Thank you for a nice lunch. But we need to head back to the rodeo more to set up and do before we kick off tomorrow. You three of course are invited to come.”, Alex said standing up. “We’ll be there.”, Alison said standing up and starting to clear the table. Colby shrugged but Blaire grinned as she walked Tristan out to the truck. “This went really well. Minus that we need adult supervision for this visit.”, Tristan said. “As long as I get to see you I don’t care if we can’t have sex, this time.”, Blaire said giving him a kiss goodbye before him and Alex drove off.
