Time passed quickly around Logan. He may never managed to find a way out of wherever he was trapped or interact with the people he loved, but he at least got to see everything. Since he didn’t need to sleep for a while he just enjoyed being in Rose’s nursery at night to watch her sleep. It was something he’d done with Raziel and Kirra when they were babies. He’d come home at random hours because of a mission and they’d already be asleep so he’d just stand there and watch as they slept. And now he was repeating this with Rose. There was something soothing about watching the gentle rising and failing of a baby’s chest and the little twitches of their eyelids and body as they dreamed. But it wasn’t just watching Rose that passed the time. No there was much more happening.

Many people he knew were getting married and having children of their own. And it wasn’t just his friends and former students finding love and having children of their own. His enemies were also reproducing. The month after Rose was born Lorna, aka Polaris, gave birth to a baby boy named Malcom and shortly after she married the father Vin, aka Thunder. Lorna wasn’t the only Acolyte having children. Three months after Rose was born the bitch that put him in this limbo, Wanda had twin boys with John that they named Thomas and William. Over in the Haven things seemed to be going good. David married Aislinn and four months after Rose was born they had a daughter Cora Lee, who based on being born with purple hair was bound to be a mutant as she grew up. The start of 2010 welcomed his first niece Rachel Howlett. The first students to have a child were the newlywed couple of Scott and Meghan who on Valentine’s Day welcomed baby Hope. In March Alison and Colby also welcomed a baby girl named Blaire. 2010 also welcomed other new generations from both sides; Emma Frost II born to Kim and Christian, Gabriel Worthington born to Warren and Paige, Bianca Hamilton born to Mikali and Annai, Talia born to Azazel and Jillian, and Alexander Petridis born to Hotshot and Phoenix of the XC.

Logan had mixed emotions about that first year of Rose’s life. He was glad to be there and watch her grow, but still sad and angry that he couldn’t really be there. He got to watch her crawl for the first time. She crawled across the living room floor from where Hudson had set her down to where Aurelia was waiting all while John recorded the moment. Then there was her first steps. She pulled herself up when no one was looking, well no one but him, and using the sofa started to inch across the floor. Logan was trying to figure out what she was going after. And once she let go of the couch it was clear where she was going. Aurelia had left the cooper locket on a shelf just low enough that the metal could be seen by Rose. She took the five steps to the shelf and pulled the locket down. Aurelia was startled when she turned to look at Rose and instead of with her toys she was sitting by the shelf chewing on the locket. And then her first word. Aurelia had taken a moment alone in the master bedroom while Hudson played with Rose in the living room, what she didn’t know what Rose had escaped Hudson. It wasn’t till the door opened a little and in toddled little Rose her heard Aurelia crying and tugged at her pant leg and simply said ‘mama’. To see the look on Aurelia’s face and how the tears she’d been crying over him not being there change to those of joy that she was their daughter’s first word, it was priceless to him.

The following year brought more weddings and more babies. Two members of the XC ended up having twins Apollo and Artemis, Wanda popped out another kid named Tyler, as did her sister Lorna who named her second son Kevin. Scary enough Adien managed to get a wife in the XC member Pandora and Blake married Pandora’s human sister Eve. In 2011 Adien and Pandora had twins Adam and Shaw. And his former students Anita and Justin welcomed a son Taylor into the new generation at the school. It was weird to think that these children he’d taught and watched grow were really adults and having families of their own. With all the influx of children being born to the new generation it seemed to make sense that someone would open a daycare. The Haven mutants Aislinn and Solangel did just that, though they didn’t seem to welcome the offspring of the Acolytes and others along those lines. But they converted the basement into their own daycare and welcomed the kids of any of the x-men. Solangel even offered to have Rose enrolled for free. Logan knew it was because she wanted to make some type of amends for whatever part her powers took in putting him where he was.

Logan took joy in watching Rose grow and play with the other children at the daycare. The one sour note was that his middle children Cero and Kirra still refused to accept her as family. Hudson and Amiko called, wrote, sent gifts, came for visits, and brought Aurelia and Rose to them for visits. He was rather disappointed in Cero and Kirra, especially Cero who was living in Bayville having fallen for Mia who was one of his former students. Mia at least didn’t follow Cero’s mindset, thankfully. Mia sent Christmas and birthday presents to Rose without Cero’s knowledge. Logan found it rather amusing when Cero realized that Mia was doing this. Cero questioned why she was bothering since there was no proof that Rose was actually related to him. Logan loved Mia’s response of, “You may not feel it’s possible that this child is your sister. But I do. I lived at the institute I saw the devotion and respect that Professor Howlett and Aurelia shared. So I cannot bring myself to believe that after his disappearance she would have faltered in that devotion.” Cero didn’t try to argue from that point, but still refused to be part of Rose’s life.

John and Sarael also welcomed a son, who in his honor his brother named James Jr. The year continued with Nils and Illyana having a daughter named Esabelle, Collin and Mary having twins Lauren and Owen, and wrapped up with Blake and Eve having twins Gregory and Jordan. 2013 started with Lorna and Vin having a daughter Larissa, Kim and Christan had a boy named Sebastian, Kamal and Callisto had a daughter named Aaliyah, Violet and Aidan had a son they named Nash, Geri and Damon had a daughter named Gina, Mikali and Annai welcomed a son named Marco, and the year ended with his second grandchild and first granddaughter Nikki being born to Cero and Mia. Logan found it to be a nice touch that Cero named his first born after his own mother. With all his visits to Bayville Logan also got to watch at Hudson started a rather long distance relationship with Teresa Hamilton. He also started to notice how Crow’s son Landon seemed to be the one out of all the children who just never stopped asking questions. The boy didn’t seem to understand why his father and everyone in the house stopped talking to his cousin Kim, which on the downside resulted in Landon seeing less of his cousins Merrick, Josalyn, and Lily. Lily at least got to spend some more time at the Haven because Demitri was sneaking her over to work with Jean to control her early developed telekinesis. Logan found it almost admirable to see this little boy refuse to accept his parents telling him it wasn’t his business and to not worry about it. At least someone wasn’t willing to accept this world the way it is.

The Institute rebuild was coming to close to completion, thanks to the lucky chance of Isis’ older brother Jacob volunteering to be the architect on the extremely large project that was taking years because of everything that went into it. With the school’s construction coming to a close, the Lensherr Academy was already built and it seemed that Wanda had managed to get the XC and Brotherhood to join with the Acolytes bringing all the new generation of mutants born between their three former groups under one roof. It was a rather terrifying team up starting to form, especially with even Azazel agreeing to join forces. 2014 started with Kurt and Isis welcoming an obviously mutant son named Stephan. Logan kind of felt sorry since the kid got the fur and general ‘demon’ appearance of his father just in white but to add to this he also had feathered wings. Blake and Even had a daughter Arieannah then Max and Kyung Moon had a daughter named Aurora.

The next couple years went without much going on. The older kids were adjusting to being in the public school, which opened the world to children who didn’t go the Haven Daycare. Now the children of X-Men and Haven mutants were meeting human children and also the children of the Lehnsherr Academy. There was some tension just because the children knew about each other’s parents through tales. Apparently he had made appearances in the stories told to the Lehnsherr Academy kids as something similar to the ‘big bad wolf’. Not that he cared that he was being painted as the bad guy; it just showed that everyone will twist the truth to suit their needs. And the Lehnsherr Academy wanted their children to see the X-Men and their children as the enemy. 2015 marked the birth of Logan’s second granddaughter Reine, named for Mia’s sister who died in the attack. Then 2017 welcomed the first child to Duncan and Lindee, a daughter they named Ororo in honor of Storm. But one big thing that happened that summer was Logan realized he might have a way to get out of this nothing.

During this summer, Rose had just turned 8 and was spending time with Hudson and Teresa at the castle in Mandipoor. Logan was enjoying watching from one of the windows as Hudson and Teresa helped Rose ride a bicycle without training wheels for the first time. Teresa used her metal manipulation powers to help the bike stay steady at first before letting go. Logan smiled as he could hear Rose yell with joy as Hudson and Teresa both shouted, “You’re doing it Rose! You’re riding the bicycle all on your own!” While he watched from the window he got the feeling someone was looking at him, not a feeling he was used to since no one had seen him in nine years. He turned his head and there to his left, eyes wide with shock and fear and mouth hanging open was a little boy in pajamas. He had dark hair and eyes, his features seemed familiar. Logan raised an eyebrow confused about who the boy was or why he was looking this way.

“Can…can you see me?”, Logan questioned. The little boy nodded. Now it was Logan’s turn to look surprised. “Wait what? No one has been able to see me in the nine years of I’m been trapped here. Who are you little boy?”, Logan questioned. “Um..um..I’m Billy Maximoff. Are you..are you Wolverine?”, Billy answered his voice trembled as he asked the question. “Maximoff? So you are one of Wanda’s boys. And yeah I’m Wolverine, how did you know that?”, Logan questioned. “You…you look like my bedtime stories describe you. Why are you in my dream?”, Billy asked. “Dream? No, this isn’t a dream. This is my personal purgatory. How did you get here?”, Logan asked. “But, this has to be a dream. Cause you’re dead. And I don’t know how I’m here. But I do know I don’t want to be here. I need to wake up. I don’t like this dream.”, Billy said shaking his head starting to cry. “Oh please kid, don’t cry. I don’t like when kids cry, even if you are Wanda’s.”, Logan said kneeling down to try and calm the boy.

Billy just started to shake his head still crying. “This isn’t real. You aren’t real, you’re dead. I need to wake up. I’m going to wake up. I’ll be in my room and Tommy will tell me it’s all ok.”, Billy said his voice trembling. The more upset Billy got the more it was apparent he had a very unique power. The boy started to be surrounded by a purple aura and the hallway of the castle even began to shake. “Calm down kid. It’s going to be alright. Let’s just figure this out together. If you were able to get into this place you can get out and maybe take me with you.”, Logan said doing his best to keep a calm voice, which for him was difficult. “Take you with me? I’m not taking the big bad wolverine with me. You’ll go on one of your rampages and kill my family or something.”, Billy said shaking his head tears still streaming down his face.

“I WANT TO WAKE UP!!!!”, Billy shouted. The echo of his voice rattled the pictures in the hall and shook the whole castle and with a blast of purple light Billy was gone. “What the…how’d he get here? How’d he get out? That kid is my answer. His mother put me here so maybe he can get me out. But how am I going to do this? He would never trust me. I need someone to start looking for me, really looking for me beyond their own reality. But who?”, Logan said pacing. “Landon…that kid never stops asking questions. And finding me will tell him why his dad stopped talking to Kim. Win win. Now I just need to get him to look.”, Logan decided.
