I'm really shit at banter. Even on the internet where you can think about the reply for like several minutes. I still end up getting called a weirdo.

Anavelle In reply to ??? [2006-05-21 19:52:22 +0000 UTC]

OMGOMGOMGOM you know what would look badass? Using real people (instead of the characters you create), but incorporating this kind of style. Does that make sense? It'd be so fucking awesome, you don't even know. 8D But, seriously... this is awesome. The linework is always so clean and nice. I love it. 8( Keep up with the character creation, though, because this one is quite the awesome. I need to stop using "awesome". Seriously.

And, yeah, if you ever had an exhibition, I would so totally hate not being there. I can foresee you have an exhibition full of pieces like these, among many others. Really. I can.

orangedust In reply to Anavelle [2006-05-22 09:56:03 +0000 UTC]

How would I put a real person in? Like a photo or a drawing?

I kinda don't draw portraits very often, hrm

Ahaaha thanks very much champ! Appreciate it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Anavelle In reply to orangedust [2006-05-23 01:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Like, you would use a real life person and draw them in this kind of style. Like, say, you had a picture of me, right. You'd draw my facial features, my pose, clothing, whatever in this kind of style. It's very hard to explain, eh. Still, you just said that you don't draw portraits, so I guess it doesn't matter. I like the characters you create on your own, anyway.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

orangedust In reply to Anavelle [2006-05-23 09:51:58 +0000 UTC]

Nah that's a good idea, but the thing is I'm usually fairly nervous about drawing portraits. Sometimes I draw them of my own free will though and then send them to the person. But the person has to have a particular look about them that makes me want to draw them. Good idea though I'll definitely think about it. Cheers!

Anavelle In reply to orangedust [2006-05-23 23:40:56 +0000 UTC]

I can understand that.

Well, even if nothing comes of it, I appreciate the consideration for the idea, at least.

dope howd u work the faded colors in and how in gods name u get the sharp lines, u got tips yo?, any who phat art, diggin it always man keep on keepin on, hit me back mad intrested in how ya do it. peace!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

orangedust In reply to inkslinginslacker [2006-05-22 09:54:02 +0000 UTC]

It's easier than it looks, I just do the fills and background by fading in paint (ie no solid lines, just hold the tin back and fade it all on till you have the background and the general colour fill of the character etc) then use marker to do the rest. artline 100s work well with paint

Very nice colors!
I'm doing a similar thing for school, so I'd like to know how you did the lines. Markers right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

orangedust In reply to AkiraShimada [2006-05-22 09:42:55 +0000 UTC]

Yep artline 100 then artline 70 for finer details/cleanups. But the 70 doesn't like being used on paint much

This will be sweet.

orangedust In reply to CharacterAssassin [2006-05-22 14:36:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it will hey. We should smuggle teo over and do an antireality jam for it hehe

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharacterAssassin In reply to orangedust [2006-05-22 14:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Funny that.
I was gonna ask you if you wanted to cool our thing Anti Reality (not team).
Seems like a fitting name seeing as its your bag and my shit is kinda fantasy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

orangedust In reply to CharacterAssassin [2006-05-22 14:50:23 +0000 UTC]

You mean *call* it anti reality?

Yeah dude sure thing. Didn't know they asked for titles and shit but yeah I assumed that would be the title by default.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharacterAssassin In reply to orangedust [2006-05-22 14:59:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was thinking if there was a title or flyer or something.
Something like Anti Reality- Work from Rubik and Troll.

But you know, work it more. Make it sound pretty.
But yeah, like you say. Now I am not sure if it is required.

orangedust In reply to CharacterAssassin [2006-05-22 15:03:50 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if it's an old habit from music or what
but I'm pretty careful about promotion in those kinda things

I do it - but usually it's in the form of like putting shit on forums etc I don't tend to like really "advertise" advertise. Which sounds weird but hopefully you'll get where I'm coming from. In the end it creates the feel that the art is more or less speaking for itself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharacterAssassin In reply to orangedust [2006-05-22 17:45:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I dont intend to net promote.
I just meant that every show at K&L I have seen has had a printed little card flyer thing, with a little sample of what type of people can expect and a title and details (time, place etc). So the people interested can grab one, which can help remind them about it and get a few people for the opening night.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

orangedust In reply to CharacterAssassin [2006-05-23 09:50:03 +0000 UTC]

I guess that makes sense. Where are these card flyers distributed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharacterAssassin In reply to orangedust [2006-05-24 09:48:10 +0000 UTC]

Like I said just on the counter in K&L a few weeks in advance.
Not sure if they/ we put them anyone else.

Besides that, word of mouth is probably fine.
