Description
I bought a vintage Czechoslovakian Flexaret VI Meopta camera (1961-1967) from Gejza Dunay(a man from Slovakia) a few weeks ago. This is one of the tests that I shot in order to see if the camera works properly. I decided to post it here as a deviantID...
Dakujem Gejza

Your such a nice guy, i've noticed you reply to all of comments receive. Anyways I personally love this self portrait of you, I love how stern your face looks, it shows such a strong character. The visible eyebag shows that you think alot, and i'm sure you have a beautiful mind. Despite this being a 'test' shoot, it's terribly good. Even though it has ALOT of blacks in it, I like how things don't seem to be swallowed up by the darkness. I see a canvas behind you, do you paint as well? And that camera is a beauty, I would love to be able to take pictures with such a camera someday. And I agree with the text, very well composed and fitting. I love this.

...I figured I have to at least reply to people who spend time looking at my work and giving me their feedback..
I post my work because I need to know what others see in it...it helps me understand what it is I'm doing.
I am glad that you took the time to notice all those details in my photograph and I thank you for all your kind comments.
I had to look up:
Stern:
1. Hard, harsh, or severe in manner or character
2. Grim, gloomy, or forbidding in appearance or outlook.
3. Firm or unyielding; uncompromising.
4. Inexorable; relentless
I used to paint from 1991 (I think) until 2002. I painted "heads" which existed in my own head. When I decided to paint nude bodies (which also existed in my head) I couldn't.
Then I decided to shoot nudes with a camera so I could use them as guides...After that I couldn't stop thinking about photography
but I also couldn't bring myself to paint...deep inside I know I will paint again someday..
Regarding the camera, I think you should try it as soon as possible...I've heard rumours that film is going to be extinct.

...yes, now that you mention it she is quite sexy
Thank you for your nice comments my friend
I just thought that having no picture of myself was kind of discourteous towards the deviant friends that do

Darling Sylvie, I don't mind you writting to me in Greek with Latin characters
What I meant was that I don't like writting that way.
Thank you very much for the "megies" & the
and I will definitely do my best to shoot some nice stuff with this beauty...

...and I love your comments...not only because they are positive...
..I wish I could write the way you do and describe the things I see and feel the way you do..
I love old full manual type cameras. I have this silly idea that even making the biggest mistakes with them will still bring good results.
Now, regarding the text, sometimes it takes me a lot longer to decide about how I will use my text (font, words, size, colour, position)
than it does to shoot, develop, scan, and retouch my mistakes altogether...In some cases I can't come to a decision so I don't even post that particular photograph (or I post it without any text)
Also in some other cases, as you said, the text does add and it "balances" the entire composition...but I am sure you already know that. Like you, I am distracted and turned off very often by using text poorly in the most amazing photographs..
Thank you so much

I ab-so-lute-ly love this,
and it is because I can see a world of experiences
and tiny moments in your face.
It makes me wish that I could see your eyes
because I know that it could only intensify things.
It looks to me like you can do some incredible things with this camera.
I also love the way you place the text in your photos.
Normally I'm distracted and turned off by that in almost every case
but the way you do it...it works.
It's just subtle enough to be pleasing to the eye and actually,
I'd say it even adds to the photo.

Well that's good...it shows that you have respect for your work and that you put a lot of care into it.
Keep doing it.
'Cause I'll keep loving it.

You look so stressed..or maybe tortured..that was the first word that entered my mind.
By the way, do you hold tension in your shoulders?
Nice cam.

He he...well if I remember well it was one of those nights with my dyspnea...I think that I decided to test that camera so I wouldn't just sit there and feel stressed...are you sure we're not related?
I used to hold tension in my shoulders but I've learned to stop doing that...now my tension points vary depending on each situation Actually it might seem that way in the photograph because I was shooting myself through a mirror, and when I was looking through the focusing glass I focused at the camera (because there was no other object at the same distance that I was), so when I was ready to click I leaned forward from the waste up so that my head was above the camera (thus in focus
) and not further behind...
