Jaimie slung her book bag over her shoulder and rushed down the stairs. Today was her, her fourteenth birthday, and her brother Ravid was taking her somewhere, but wouldn't tell. "where are you taking me?", she said with a twinkle in her eye and a delightful smile. "your not gonna find out until were there, you dwarf", he replied with unamused look. Hours had passed and they hadn't got off the freeway. where were they going? It started raining and haling but they kept on driving. Hail turned to snow and snow turned to ice. Every once in awhile the car would swerve to one side but this time it swerved all the way. The car diverged off the freeway and rolled down the hill to the side of them, colliding with rocks and trees and whatever else was lying around. The car was flipped over onto its back and two motionless people lied inside. Jaimie awoke to blue sky and shattered glass. Ravid's face was confronted with the sky as well. Trails of blood trickled down his face and broken glass lied upon his chest. Tears developed in Jaimie's and she began to scream, for help, for a miracle, for her brother. In less then fifteen minutes the crash site was surrounded by fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and a couple persons who decided to stop and see what had happened. A few hours later she awoke to surgery lights and masked men. "what happened? where am I? Wheres my brother?!" She began to panic,Thrashing her head around. In the corner of her eye she noticed a man. Black hair green eyes. Her brother. His heart monitor with shades of blues and greens and reds created mountain like lines on the screen. At least her brother was safe. She rested her head against the pillow and relaxed her muscles. The next morning she was awakened by a doctor with a droopy face. With a tug of her arm he had dragged her into her brothers room. "your brothers brain dead", they all said. The room was silent for awhile until a doctor decided to break it with "you should be the one to pull the plug". Without a word and with a blank face, she wobbled to the family bathroom. Patients and Doctors gathered at the bathroom door and listened to screams muffled by tears. No one dared to disturb, Until one day the bathroom door swung open and a sweaty tear stained Jaimie walked out. Jaimie strode into Ravid's room and immediately unplugged the only cord that kept him living. Tears rolled down her cheeks as his heart monitor repeated the same pattern of mountain like lines. He was struggling for life. What had she done? With a single sound and dead silence Jaimie stormed out of the room, the hospital. She hopped on the first bus she saw. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out Ravid's orange ipod and held it to her heart. She inserted the earphones and switched it to shuffle. The first song to play was "I Will Fallow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie. Thinking of everything that had happened she decided to be strong. Ravid hadn't left, hes always gonna be by her side, waiting for her, watching over her. Jaimie got off the bus with a smile and decided shed live her life...the way he would of wanted her too.
