Description
"Misuo!" I scream. At least I try to. It's nearly impossible to scream when a thick hand is pressed over your mouth. The person covering my mouth drags me away from my brother and I can feel the tears streaming down from my eyes. The person shoves me into a room, locks the door and leaves me. I cry silently for what seems like hours before I hear a sickening zap.I knew what They had done.
I knew that They had taken him away and punished him for my mistake.
I knew that I could never forgive myself for what I had let Them do to him.
I jolt awake. My head is still on the (now soaked) pillow, Misuo still asleep (and unharmed) next to me. I feel his arm resting carelessly over my waist, and it comforts me. A little. I move closer to him and rest my head on his chest. He jumps at the movement and wakes up.
"You okay?" he asks groggily. I nod and wipe away the excess tears still left on my face. He notices.
"Was it the dream again?"
"Yes," I say. I feel tears well up in my eyes and bury my head in his shoulder. His arm tightens around my waist and he pulls me closer to him. I try to keep my sobs down, but little gasps escape my lips every few seconds. Misuo holds me and whispers to me, trying to keep me calm. After awhile the tears stop again.
"You shouldn't be able to remember that stuff," Misuo says to me.
"I know I shouldn't, but somehow I do… Misuo, I can't control it. Those memories that They supposedly erased… they keep coming back to me. And they never go away. I'm scared…" I whimper.
"I know… I'm sorry that They hurt you like that. But what you remember, I remember, remember?" he asks me.
Misuo gives me a quick squeeze and drifts back to sleep.
"I wish it were that easy for me," I whisper before closing my eyes.
XXXXXXX
When I wake up, Misuo is gone. Awake, obviously.
I get up and walk (stumble) down the hall. I lose my footing and my hand slips from the wall. When I expect to hit the wood floor, I feel Misuo's arms catch me. I look up into his always smiling eyes and I hope he can see how grateful I am for him being in the right place at the right time. Again…
"Good morning to you too," Misuo says. I can hear laughter in his voice. And I feel the blush that must surely be turning my cheeks pink. I quickly right myself and take a step away. Disappointment flashes across Misuo's face, but he quickly covers it with an evil grin. I take another step back as he takes one forward.
"Misuo, I know that look all too well. You better not be planning on doing what I think you're planning!" I say. Misuo just smiles and steps forward again. I start to turn away, but then I feel his arms lock around my waist and he spins me around. Misuo takes my wrist in his hands and pushes me back against the wall.
"Misuo…" I say. I feel his lips gently pressing against my neck, moving up to the corner of my jaw, and stopping just short of my lips.
"Yes?" he says. I feel his breath against my skin and chills are sent down my spine. I press my lips together, to stop any sound from escaping them. I don't trust my mouth when he's like this.
"Misu? Yes or no?" he asks.
I don't say anything, knowing he'll take it as "yes".
He does, sure enough, and closes the distance between my mouth and his. His body is centimeters from mine, maybe even less, but close enough that it makes me want to pull him closer to me. I know it's what he wants, so I don't.
We tease each other this way.
Misuo kisses me greedily, little gasps of pleasure escaping his lips every time we part. Once or twice I hear my name escape his mouth.
After a minute or so, I slip my wrists out of Misuo's grip and push him away. He looks at me with what would seem like lust, but then he smiles and the expression disappears. I smile back for a second.
But only a second.
"So what did you make this time?" I say, slipping around him. Misuo was known as the cook of the house. To me at least. I couldn't cook something if my life depended on it.
"Um… Why don't you wait and see?" he says. I glance at him over my shoulder. He gives me a smile that said: I completely forgot to make breakfast.
I roll my eyes and smile again.
"Maybe you can teach me? I want to be able to make my own breakfast once in a while," I say with a little girl smile. Misuo answers with his tongue sticking out of his mouth. I lean up so my mouth is within reach of his and lick his tongue.
"Uhh!???" he says, his tongue still hanging out. I giggle and turn around the corner to a surprise.
"Natsuki!? What are you doing here?" I saw, a grin splitting my face. She smiles and jumps up from her perch on the counter to give me a hug.
"Oh yeah. Natsuki is here. Forgot to tell you," Misuo says. I turn around to look at him and "tsk" at him.
"Why don't you get your apron on and make us breakfast," I say.
"That's a good idea."
Misuo turns and heads to the kitchen. I hear the stove turn on and pans bang against each other. I roll my eyes.
"For such an amazing cook, he sure is noisy isn't he?" Natsuki says.
"Got that right, blue eyes," I say with a smile. "So what's up, girl? I haven't heard from you since you went to Japan!"
"I know. I didn't get roaming data over there. I couldn't talk to anyone! I came back yesterday, and since you're my best friend, I decided to visit you first," Natsuki says.
I laugh again.
"Misu, you're like my sister. I'd live with you if I could," she continues.
"I know. But Misuo wouldn't like it…" I say, and I look over to the kitchen where Misuo finally got breakfast going. I feel a warmth inside of me when he glances over his shoulder and gives me a little, secret smile. I look away to see Natsuki smiling at me.
"You know I find it very creepy that people consider you two brother and sister. But I find it adorable the way you look at each other. It's amazing how you two were literally created for each other. I don't think I'll ever find that, unless there's a miraculous new synthesizer named 'Natsukito'. Pssh, how likely is that?" Natsuki says. I immediately think of Eri. If he wasn't so interested in Misuo I'd suggest it, but things aren't the way I'd like them to be.
"You just thought of Eri didn't you?" Natsuki asks. I nod.
"You two look so alike it's scary… If he wasn't so interested in…" I look over my shoulder. "In Misuo… I would definitely suggest it to him."
"I don't want to be set up with a guy that could be my twin… But that Natsukito idea was basically it huh?"
I nod again. Misuo calls us into the kitchen. When we get there, we are greeted by aroma's that immediately make our mouth's water. Misuo looks at us eagerly, a small smile on his lips.
"Misuo, this looks amazing!" Natsuki says. She looks like she could eat all of the food by herself.
"Yea it does!" I say. His smile gets bigger.
