Looks like the ground is moving with a high speed in this pic. I'd say "nah, it's just some motion blur" but it doesn't seem to be that. Maybe it's just some optical thing or kind of illusion, or maybe I've just stayed up too late.

Oh, and I almost forgot. How did you get such a dark blue sky to this pic?

Did you take a time machine to visit the city? I haven't been to London in 11 years, apparently a lot of new architecture has sprung up since then (or maybe I'm just not very observant )

passacaglia In reply to Bensaret [2006-07-25 10:10:19 +0000 UTC]

hehh true, the diversity and variety of modern buildings is staggering - as for the City Hall, it was build in 2002 by Sir Norman Foster, the same architect who had a go at some quite remarkable masterpieces in London

London Gherkin (some Swiss finance building) --> [link]
Millennium Bridge --> [link]
Canary Wharf tube station --> [link]

... to name a few

I work on the other side of that building!! Working along the river is great. Good place for lunching!

South bank is great, non?

You should have used a much smaller aperture than 4.0 - with the sun so bright it wouldn't have been a problem shooting hand held @ f/16. City Hall would have been sharper then!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

passacaglia In reply to JamesBardolph [2006-07-24 19:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Too bad 4,0 is the smallest aperture of my 10-20mm lens - I always try to use the smallest unless I take sunset shots ^___^

I totally fell in love with London and I really can't wait to go back there again

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesBardolph In reply to passacaglia [2006-07-24 20:05:19 +0000 UTC]

the smaller the number, the LARGER the aperture. try different apertures, press the DOF preview button and look into the lens and you will see what I mean. The smaller the aperture, the bigger the number.

Make sense?
