You should see mine.
With my 5.1 Surround sound speaker wires going everywhere across my room.
And I use a desktop!!
I have to keep my tower next to my lcd screen.

I can imagine that.
When i was using desktop back in Malaysian, I will spend hours to find a solution which can hide all the cables at the same time keep them neat and easy reach. It look a long time, but in the end everything looks better. I am crazy about it, i can't stand my room with cables everywhere. so i have to do it.

The other inconvenient thing is that my cables are a bit shorter then I want so I can't put it behind my bed and wardrobes. Except they are going from one part of the wall to the other taking short-cuts.

XD I had that for 2 years, and it's a very important part of all my works.

Why not drill a hole about ~2 inches wide in the back of the desk, behind the laptop, and cable-tie all of the cables and put them through under it and hide them there? Then you should only have the bare minimum showing, and neatly?

Another thing about Mac notebooks it's that all the plugs are at the side. so when i plug in all the things into my mac, it looks like a huge sliver fat crab with small legs. hahaha.

There is a hole, but it's behind the TV. Because the desk doesn't belong to me, so i can't do anything to it. the desk belongs to this student apartment, same as the TV. I wish i can do that. Just like you suggested, if i can drill a hole, then everything will be much more neater. And neatness it's really a big part of me .hahaha.
