Description Hi

Finally back from another trip... it was amazing : forgetting the time, forgetting about what a night is supposed to be...

Almost all alone in the night... almost ? no... because some species are as active as a tit feeding his chick. Take example of this scops owl. I truly love this specie !!!

About this picture : It has been made under strict photographic conditions to avoid any problem with the breeding. One of the specialist of this specie in France helped me a lot to understand their behaviour, their tolerance to the modification of their surrounding and the care of the chicks. I created a nest, similar to the one they used but with an integrated flash and a camera in it. The power of the flash was strongly reduced using a mirror system, the camera was hidden in a box included in the nest...

The installation was made of 1 IR trap, the camera and 3 flashes. The camera was wire-controlled with a computer, all the flashes was set to manual. A picture will follow (perhaps).

I used a 14mm on a 5D to make this shot. The bird was close, very close only few centimetres away from the camera (the wing was surely touching it). BTW, this bird is small, VERY small : he is the size of a screech owl... but weight almost twice less

Re

It seems The Lord Of The Night continues his reign.
It's funny I just saw an owl the other night. I have
a barn and they love barns.

Hey there Nathan,

Everything is great! I'm not sure if you have read my latest journal, but I officially graduated from school and can now call myself an Applied Psychologist . The reason that there hasn't been much art uploaded is probably because of my laziness, but I'm trying to start sketching again as soon as possible!

How have you been?

Greetings,

Celine (my real name )

Y R U SO AWESOME? No seriously, this is such a interesting shot, it's something different then to what I see all the time on DA. I like the planning and though in it too, it's fantastic, also the way you have caught the wing stretched out close to the camera like that.

You seriously need a DD. D=

Hi Eve

Thanks a lot for your comment. I am glad you liked it. It is strange because every picture you see on DA push us to go further... and now, it is very difficult to do so.

Why not a DD In fact, things like that are difficult to obtain... and give a lot of work

See you in a RP thread

Hey broham. :3

You are welcome, yes I would agree, if it wasn't for DA I think i wouldn't be as good as I am at drawing as I am today.

I suggested your piece for a DD.

Sure.

Encore bravo!
