Only 1 background edition!!Politics seems to be everywhere at the moment.. So I took the time to address what I consider to be the most annoying thing about politics (My priorities are somewhat warped).. Political cartoons...
I get some of them, most of them make my head hurt... Hopefully I'm not the only one with this problem... Oh well..
Also, I have no idea why most of the mane 6 have been turned into bitches.. I blame you...
Dash always gets the short end of the stick in my comics, I'm not sure why...
I reckon I'm gonna do the critique thing again... Cos why not?
It seems I forgot to write an obituary for Slate Slabrock... Just imagine it says "RAILING KILL!!!" Or something..

The binders full of mares thing is just something odd Mitt Romney said (Replace mares with women) and people (Including me for some reason) found it amusing. As for the image, it's an old political cartoon from the 1700s. I just discorded it.

The "binders full of mares" is a reference to "binders full of women", an infamous line said by Mitt Romney during one of the presidential debates about gender inequality in the workplace.
The Discord picture is a parody of the "Join or Die" cartoon drawn by Benjamin Franklin during the American Revolution; it featured a snake representing the colonies broken into pieces and called for them to unite against the British.

Quick correction, since it's really getting to me.
The snake was to band the colonies together to fight WITH the British against the French in the French and Indian War. Part of that whole Albany Plan.

The image of Discord is a famous news ad for the United States, (Used a snake instead) where it was trying to get the U.S. original thirteen colonies to band together together against Great Britain back around the 1700s.
That could have been explained better, but that's enough to get the idea across right?
But yeah, I'm guessing that's where it came from.

It is based on a political cartoon done by Benjamin Franklin, in which many of the original 13 american colonies were shown as a severed snake, with the words "Join, or Die." written on the bottom. It symbolized the nessecity of the colonies to work together to survive and prosper. It was also used during the revolution to help stir the American patriots into a unfied force against the British.
