Stupid gits these days, there have been occasional times where Alfred is shirtless and canonically, he has the body of a jock. And if he was fat, then he would look so in the outside of his clothes.
And America isn't necessarily lazy, just he tries to focus on the positive side of situations. And he's actually very intelligent. If he was a dumbass, he wouldn't have become a world superpower by now.
Hetalia's America actually helped restore my personal American pride, and he has a "hero complex" because he hates seeing people, especially his own, die or be miserable in the worst circumstances. Take the American Civil War, the Great Depression and 9/11 as examples: he wants to help others and conquer all that's supposed to be evil.
