Description
Vega, the first-magnitude star used in many calibrations for telescopes, seen from roughly equator-on. Its rapid rotation rate (roughly once every 16.2 hours) flattens it, dimming the equator and brightening the poles. Bright 'plages' may have been detected on its surface. At the scale of your screen, assuming you are using a PC, the Sun would be several thousand kilometers above the top of this image.
