Description ... 2,1 mb patience pleaz ( 400 dpi resolution ) ...

...::: [ notes ] :::...

Resolution of the HDR environment map is low
( or at less not designed for such a big sized pix )
about that reason ground looking blured .

Hope you understand that i`m a Vue user , NOT a E-on software designer ,
so better tell this to the guys that create HDR maps ... not to me ...

... of course for cinema resolution of 768x512 pix , those HDR maps are cool enough ...

Awsome work. Love the detail and refractive surface.

If Johnny 5 from Shortcircuit had newer technology and legs instead of treads.....I think this is what he would look like. Great work......incredible work indeed.....looks nearly real....awesome!

Incredible modelling, well done. Don't worry about the blurred background, it's a technique photographers sometimes use to draw attention to the foreground, so it just looks like it's emulating that. You mentioned a couple of times that it's at 400DPI, that is completely uneccessary. The maximum resolution any monitor can display is 72DPI, so on screen there is no difference between a 72DPI and 400DPI image. It simply means that everyone is downloading 4 times more than they have to (a 400DPI image is 4 times as big as a 72DPI image, although they will both look exactly the same on screen) If on the other hand, you are preparing an image for print, resolution should be much higher, 150DPI, 300DPI or even higher. THis is because printers will print higher resolutions and there will be a noticable difference. It is even worth rendering two seperate images, one for print and one for screen. Or you can lower the resolution in Photoshop. I apologise for that mini-lecture on resolution...

you could have pushed the blur further in PhotoShop in a gaussian method to make it look like a photo blur, not a low-res blur...

beautiful model, toning, and design. the pixelation in the back ground is kid of slopy, but i'm more interested in the model anyway. its like a modern jonny 5, well done .

amazingly realistic, shame about the low quality map though, really ruins the effect.
I've only just started using autocad, and even then just for simple plans and sections. Nothing like this. Wow is all i can say.

It is quite amazing. Ive been modeling for 2 years and have never acheived anything far near this quality. The only thing thats odd about it is that the left leg is bent but the right isnt...

mikkow [2005-01-21 05:48:38 +0000 UTC]

This is very cool, but there is one immersion breaker - the ground around the feet and lower legs is as unfocused as the back of the background. If it was a camera, it would get increasingly blurred the further it was from the point of focus (the mech).
