Description: This questionably looking invertebrate gets its name from the pole like shell it can retract into and the odd fact that it swims vertically to escape predators. Like most animals native to their home world they are colonial organisms, their ancestors were anemone or even coral like creatures that lost their stems in favor of mobility in the form of swimming. The zooids of a polefish are of course arranged in a vertical line, connected by a series of blood vessels and a nervous system to one another. They possess purple blood in order to breath in low oxygen environments, and they have a loose nervous system that goes throughout their entire body, not concentrated in one spot. This species mainly ears marine snow and small plankton
