I just recently finished an awesome online art course, Painting Drama at Oatley Academy which I highly recommend! This is one of the pieces I did for the class.It's a bit HawaiiΒ inspired. Although there isn't really any mythology of mermaids or actual kelp forests in Hawaii (that I know of), I kinda liked the idea of a pastoral underwater scene of a mermaid family, harvesting their kelp crop.
Done in Photoshop.
