Love it! It's an extremely perilous situation all right, but as usual you have managed to present it in such as humorous way that the first thing to come across is the fun factor instead of the scare factor. brilliant work!

Really great job on her expression...an excellent piece, in a lot of ways, even by your normally high standards...

oh thanks! I had a lot of fun with it! The commissioner was pretty intent on her being very expressiveΒ

i'm still amazed how you get people to pay you to draw fan art of your own character...i yield to the superior intellect...

It looks more like a Kinktober sketch that finally got colored-in rather than a full-fledged commission.

What makes it not look like a commission if I may ask

Okay, let us examine what we have, and what we don't.

What we have:
- Damsel on her back with breasts, abdomen, inner thighs, upper arms, and head shown.
- A brown slab with looping brush strokes evoking a wood grain pattern
- A few bands of rope tying the damsel down with some tied off to cleats or rings on the slab
- A serrated metallic blade with some motion blur and some black lines
- A Corrugated steel-like rafter above, and dull grey walls and floors as a background.
- Your OC in peril...

What we don't have:
- The rest of her arms and legs, which is kind of an important thingy with bondage. Master types like to see where the wrists and ankles are at; probably the same desire for slave types to see them as well.
- A proper table with legs, or something you could actually place before an elevated bandsaw, like an industrial conveyor or table-fed system to pass materials through what is usually a stationary cutter.
- The rest of the saw machine; or was it just supposed to be like a really big Steak Knife
- A 3-Dimensional background; with the damsel in the foreground or in proportion to the saw. The way it looks now appears that the ceiling is lowering down onto her. Like one of those Magic Eye puzzles, stare directly at the image and slightly un-focus your eyes while leaning away from the monitor - tell me if the ceiling doesn't sink downward onto her?! This effect happens because the head of the table was lifted up towards the ceiling much too high, and the foot of the table is much too low in order to accommodate the Saw (and us the viewer); this is the major sign of this being a sketch that didn't make the grade, because with that POV aspect it looks goofy. The only way it works would be if the table was elevated this way to have gravity slide her toward the saw, which is not what I think you intended to have happen.

Another reason why I suspected this was a Kinktober pic is because of the death peril element, and also because the Saw horror movie franchise had most (if not all) of their films debut in the USA during October over the years. Although there is nothing Saw-movie specific about this picture, it looks to me like it could've been a Kinktober pic with a cutesy title like "Elana saw Saw". Also, did someone really commission Elana instead of Korra, Miraculous Ladybug, or Katniss Everdeen? I appreciate an OC being popular, but there has been no shortage of Elana in trouble; especially with Kinktober happening only 3 months ago...

I respect both you and the commissioner; and If these were the marching orders you received, than of course you carried out your end. Many comments from others read as pleased with this effort.

I appreciate the critique, and your concerns, though the commissioner approved of the sketch with the table this way and her bound this way.Β

Fun fact: A lot of people commission Elana, I get as many commissions for Elana as I get for other more mainstream characters, even though you might not want to commission a picture of her doing something you come up with, other people do.

You did consider that is a cartoonist (comment on style, not criticism) rather than a realist artist?
