Although you wouldn't think it, this is one of the models for my 'cartoonized' graboid:

Had to do a full night's worth of work to get it anywhere near decent. But I think it came out pretty well! 
Had to copy, desaturate, "photocopy" filter the spines, then clean up the shadows, then copy and paste them a billion times to get a big image of spines. Not dissimilar process for taking a couple small bits of texture from the back of the head & randomly copying/pasting a billion times to get a huge swath of skin texture, then getting a rough body outline traced from a different bit of sketch entirely, and layerign in the skin & spines, then cleaning up the spines, etc. etc. etc. Then taking the whole thing and desaturating, 'photocopy' filtering, pasting as new layer over the original mashup using 'burn' several times. The end result speaks for itself. Not perfect, but pretty cool.

you see i live in Nevada
and no ther is no such town named Perfection (tear)
but my dad and I are fans of the movies exept the 4th one
bet we were hoping for some more pictures of stumpy here so we can make one full sized and put it in out front yard
