I love this random pony to bits and pieces. But whats her name? Edit: Apparently Screw Ball! Sounds good to me.My head canon is that she's somehow connected to Discord.

What about the Love and Tolerance? It was really cruel to just turn him into stone AGAIN. If Luna was forgiven instead of sending her to the Moon again then why he wasn't offered the same possibility?

Luna was probably forgiven just because Celestia loved her sister and desperately wanted her back. Celestia hated Discord and all the suffering he caused. Any reasoning beyond this is fanon, but I'd also say that because Discord is, well, discord, harmony would just stop him. It can't destroy the possibility of discord, but it can avoid it. Or something.

Yes, that's what I found wrong with what the show's apparently trying to teach the kids - if your sister does bad stuff, you should forgive her and offer her a chance of redemption. However, if someone who isn't a relative or close friend of yours does bad stuff, you should just go full VENGEANCE on him.
Kinda hypocritical to have the heroes go on andο»Ώ on and on about the power of Friendship, then turn around and transform the bad guy into a statue, not even trying to settle things in other way.

Well, he didn't really give them much choice. We don't have any idea how the EoH work, but they were the only things that could even touch Discord. Its possible that was the only possible outcome.
Unless he turned good, which he clearly wasn't going to do. He loved chaos too much.

The first time EoH were used against Nightmare Moon she was sent to the moon. The second time they were used she was reverted back to Luna. If EoH worked differently when used two times against Nightmare Moon, they could've very well worked differently as well when used two times against Discord. Instead of turning to stone, he could've lost so much power that he wouldn't be such a threat to Equestria anymore.
So no, I don't agree that this was the only possible outcome.

Originally, Luna and Celestia were both the wielders of the EoH. Possibly Celestia alone couldn't use their full power, and did the best she could against Nightmare Moon.
Honestly, its all fanon territory now. We'll never get a say one way or another, probably.

My theory on Screwball is she's the Pony that owned the Jokeshop Dash & Pinks bought their supplies to prank people with in "Griffon the Brush-off" in season 1. While Discord was turning ponyville into..well basically a equestrian version of wonderland, he probably saw the joke shop and thought..you know what I bet the pony in there would enjoy being part of the chaos...and thus..she became part of it.
But yeah until proven wrong, ima say screwball is the owner of Ponyville's joke shop. cause I guess ponies have things like that.
